Doc Macomber is an active member of the Mystery Writers of America, International Thriller Writers, Willamette Writers and Friends of Mystery. His writing career spans over three decades and includes several one-act plays, screenplays, short-stories, young adult fiction, and adult mysteries. His non-fiction includes a chapter in "Finding the Key Strengths and Weaknesses of your Detective Character" in "Now Write! Mysteries: Suspense, Crime and Thriller Fiction Exercises from Today's Best Writers and Teachers" published in 2012 by the Penguin Group (USA). He has also contributed articles to the Bloodletter and the Mystery Readers Journal discussing the development of his Vietnamese investigator, Jack Vu, who works for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI), and the history of the ethnic detective. His newest release is River Rat, book two in the Jason Colefield Series (2018). His Jason Colefield Series also includes River City, a Silver Medal Winner in the 27th Annual IBPA Benjamin Franklin Book Awards for Mystery and Suspence. His Jack Vu Series includes: The Killer Coin, Wolf's Remedy, Snip, and Riff Raff — a finalist in the Killer Nashville Claymore Award. Mr. Macomber served twenty years in the USAF and USANG and formerly served in a Special Ops unit in Portland, Oregon. He currently lives aboard a trawler in the Pacific Northwest.
