Akinwale emigrated to Canada from Nigeria in 1999 to pursue a career as a stockbroker. While studying for the Canadian Securities Course, he discovered the financial planning profession and began his career at Chartwell Securities and then worked with two prestigious investment firms and a bank, Aim/Trimark Investments, TD Investment Services, and TD Canada Trust, between 1999 and 2006 where he did everything from buying and selling investment products to loans and mortgages for individuals and businesses. He became a Financial Planner Investment & Retirement Planning at the Bank of Montreal in 2006, where he advised both mid- and high-net-worth clients in making investment decisions and planning for their retirement. By 2015, he had a portfolio of $52 million in assets under management. Akinwale has a private financial planning practice, he teaches about finance in his community and manages the finances of a church and charity. He is a public speaker, an avid investor and businessman, who within fifteen years of being in Canada, owned and co-owned several properties. He is a director and shareholder in several businesses in Canada and the US. His love for financial planning led him to teach a series of Money Management classes quarterly in the community and Financial Literacy classes in different parts of the Greater Toronto Area. He likes to explain complex financial concepts in simple everyday terms. As a Certified Financial Planner, He was an ambassador of FP Canada (The Financial Planning Standards Council), where he represented the council at several universities and colleges in Ontario to intending students of the financial planning profession between 2015 and 2017. Akinwale has a BSc degree in Economics from the University of Lagos, an MSc in Finance from Walden University in Minnesota, and he is a Certified Financial Planner - CFP®. He is married with two beautiful daughters and has a home in Ajax, Ontario. Canada.
