Adam Brink was born and raised in Massachusetts. He grew up in a farmhouse without a television set, and consequently read more than was good for him. Mostly he read whatever he borrowed from the local library, but on occasion he purchased old fantasy novels with money from his paper route. Inevitably these were novels about adventures based on popular roleplaying games, or Star Trek, or cheesy 80s paperbacks with half-naked people on the covers. Adam studied writing in college, and emerged into a failing job market where he worked for a credit union during the day and as a bartender at night. He still read fantasy books during lunch and dinner breaks, but much of the modern fantasy on the menu had sad, desolate, or grittier themes than he remembered from his youth. Adam thought a lot about this. If he was going to escape into a fantasy world, why should that world be as bad, or worse, than the one in which everyone already lived? Then Adam’s friend dared him to write a book. “Change it up, if you want to see something else,” she said. Sex Bunker Apocalypse arrived a month later. People have described the books as “heartwarming” and “hopeful” and “pretty damn sexy” which Adam figures is a good start.
