About this listen

After years in foster care, Breanne Gallagher has the stable life she’s always wanted, living with her foster sister and working as a chef. Then one devastating night, a hellish creature invades her apartment and shatters her fragile existence. Shifting between monster and man, it slaughters her foster sister and assaults Bree. Alone, wounded, her beloved home tainted by gruesome memories, Bree flees to a tiny wilderness town, following her only clue to her past.

Shape-shifting warriors Zeb and Shay move from one pack to another, hunting the hell-hounds which prey on their kind. Assigned to Cold Creek, they manage a decrepit fishing lodge for their "human" cover. Their first renter is a pretty human female who trembles at the sight of them - yet stands her ground. She’s foolishly courageous, ferociously determined, and heartbreakingly hurt. Although shape-shifters aren’t attracted to humans, this female’s beauty and compelling scent ignites longings neither loner ever expected to face.

Bree is healing, learning to shoot the biggest pistol she can find, and overcoming her fears, especially of the two deadly, disconcertingly attractive hunters. Her life is back on track...until she tries to save a little girl from a hell-hound and discovers that everything she knows about herself is false.

read the book

if you are not into overdramatic and whiny female narrators, you might want to scip this audible and buy the book instead.
the story is rather great, but the leading female in the book sounds through this narrator both weak and whining at almost all times during the narration. I slowed down to 80% speed just to get the sound down to a marginally more acceptable pich.

Good book as usual from Cherise

I realy like the duet narration, and Noah does a great job making the two males sound different.

Great until

Spanking someone to remove their guilt and teach a lesson is narcissistic bullshit, and degrading g to the female who was strong rendering her weak. I so wish the author would have treated the heroine better.

Great to listen too

This book I could not put down it had me from the first page to the last. Breanne was living with her foster-sister and working the job she loved until one night a hell hound came to her apartment to keep. Bree was alone and wounded she just packed up and drive to a tiny wilderness town. She could not get the nightmares to stop. But now is the time to get the book and find out what is going on in this small town with all the people.

Not for prudes!

Anyone who’s read a Cherniss Sinclair book in the past shouldn’t be surprised at the detailed passages of sex between 2 or even 3 - mates in this case. But as with her other work, the books have strong capable women who overcome adversity in a very real way and meet strong vulnerable alpha men. Together, story lines about all forms of love, family and home are explored using shifters and the paranormal. The love and suspense are all written beautifully.

Wonderful story but beware

I enjoyed this book. I want to warn survivors, this story might hit hard in some places. The author put in to words the feelings I had buried for 20 years. I wish I had found men as the main character had. I was shocked at my response. I thought I had dealt with all those feelings. I almost stopped listening but I pushed through and was glad I did. In some way this story exposed things I still need to work on, and that's a great thing.
I strongly recommend this book to all. I just say beware this story might make bring up some feelings.

So great

I can't get enough of this series. I can listen over and over. Women with resilience, men with dominance and emotional intelligence, shifters and a while lot of steamy goodness. Narration on point. Buy the whole series. Trust me.

Duet narration is awesome!

Oh how I wish all audio books were performed with Duet narration. Duet narration has two narrators that preform the same characters throughout the book. Formerly, if two narrators were used, one did the chapters written from the Hero’s point of view and the other did the chapters written from the Heroine’s POV. As a result, both narrators performed many of the same characters, so the voices weren’t always consistent. Duet is the way to go!

I have to admit that the plot was pretty dang predictable. It had many similarities to book one; this was a bit disappointing. So far, this series has fallen short of most of her others. It’s ok but not outstanding.

I’m hoping that she just needs to get in the groove, of this world, and the plots will improve. I will stick with the series for, at least, a couple more books.

Amazing sequel!

Once again, Sinclair does not disappoint!! Continuing this storyline, and building a community you can care about. The narrators do not disappoint as they take on more characters and bring their personalities to life!
