Publisher's summary

The 15th-century Arabian text The Perfumed Garden stands with India's The Karma Sutra as one of the greatest erotic texts in classic literature. It is primarily a manual for sexual activity of all kinds, dealing in some considerable detail with physical attributes, foreplay, coital positions and advice for how to achieve greater satisfaction for both partners, as well as sexual health. In addition, it contains some enlivening stories of sexual encounters and sexual needs fulfilled. Jonathan reads Richard Burton's famous 1886 translation with aplomb.

Editorial reviews

A classic Islamic erotic text from the 15th century, The Perfumed Garden, here in translation via Sir Richard Burton, is performed with all the frankness and levity it deserves by Jonathan Keeble. Both a frank sexual manual and a repository of erotic stories, poetry, and historical thought on sex and sexuality, The Perfumed Garden is as essential to any audio library as the Kama Sutra. From advice on seduction, foreplay, anatomy, hygiene, and idea beauty, Keeble admirably revives this curious historical text with his compelling performance.

Good for a misogynistic laugh

“Appreciate unto this the decietfulness of women and what they are capable of.”

Written by a misogynist and is so extreme that it’s laughable except that someone likely took this seriously. In short, a woman’s thoughts are run by her constant sexual need. This is quoted from women. But it cannot be said the same for man. Except the guy who wrote this book was obviously a bit obsessed. I will not be reading this again.
