About this listen

Darcy Smith always sensed she was different from everyone else - if only she knew how different. Possessing a secret strong enough to end an entire race of demons, Darcy unwittingly becomes a pawn in an epic battle between the vampires and the weres as she discovers a new world filled with ecstasy - and dark passions.

Consumed with lust for Darcy, Styx - the Anasso of vampires - will do everything in his power to keep her out of the lair of Salvatore Giuliani, the deadly leader of the weres. But protecting the woman he loves could cost Styx the ultimate price.

Salvatore Giuliani knows time is running out for the weres. Pushed to the brink of extinction, he will stop at nothing to make Darcy his ultimate conquest and queen - for she alone holds the key to his survival. But which of these men can Darcy truly trust? For all it takes is one bite to plunge her into a lifetime of servitude - or a lifetime of pleasure.

Great listen!

Any additional comments?

The story of Darcy & Styx finding love, challenges, and family made for an enticing and enjoyable read. I highly recommend this series!

Could have been better

For this to have been the "love story" for the Vampire leader. I thought it left me feeling a little bit flat.
In this second installment of the series, I see the writer has her characters oblivious to the fact that they can and have found their "one true mate."
I do hope the characters get some depth.

It just took 1 bite... for me too and I was hooked

This is the best one yet and if you're a paranormal romance lover then this is a great series to get into. It has Vampires, Gods, Goddesses, Werewolves, magic and a Gargoyle who stole the show.

Styx, (the King of the Vampires) is drool-worthy, sexy, and very very handsome (a good start) but he's fed up with all the Werewolves on his turf and they're headed by Salvatore (the King of the Werewolves), he's not quite as drool-worthy but still sexy and handsome too (added bonus). Styx is heartless and he has a plan to kidnap Darcy who's a compassionate, beautiful but feisty bartender as he's found out Salvatore wants her desperately. But his plan backfires when his kidnapping of her starts off a chain of events that'll change lives.

This very well-written, exciting and enjoyable story has mystery, passion, humor, surprises, funny banter, an unpleasant family reunion, treachery, action, sex and, of course, a lovely romance. Ms.Ivy has the ability to draw the listener into the richly described plot, then entertains us as she skilfully juggles her characters about, makes their personalities develop and grow into either very likeable/loveable characters or wicked villains and, in the end, we've been thoroughly entertained. My only peeve was the constant repetition by Darcy of the word "cripes" but I guess in her situation I'd be saying a lot worse.

Worth a credit? Oh boy is it ever a YES and, IMHO, if you too are into sexy vampires and paranormal romances then press 'Add To Cart" now you won't be disappointed but, if you can, start at book 1.

Cripes...this one is bad!

I love vampire/werewolf/supernatural stories; it really doesn't take much to please me but this one is just not worth it. The over-use of the word "cripes!" is absolutely annoying (does this author know how to use a Thesaurus?) I honestly don't think this heroine knows any other words that can describe shock, surprise, disbelief?! I don't think she does. I feel like this author is working to know use profanity, I can respect that, but seriously....use other words!

As far as the story is concerned I felt it was extremely weak as well. It has potential but no build-up and real character development. This woman has fallen into bed with a man/vampire who kidnapped her and is a total stranger...immediately. Uh huh...suuuuure! This is supposed to be a woman too who has had to depend upon herself and she's just going to immediately do something like that?!

I will say this one could potentially have been improved upon with a different reader. Arika Rapson (in my opinion) simply isn't much of an actress to pull off the characters. She makes more of an attempt with the Gargoyle than anyone but, generally speaking, all the characters just sound like her reading and not very enthusiastically at that. I noticed she reads more of this authors books too which is enough to keep me from downloading those ones as well.

Half-way into the book I'm still not "into" this book, it's ho-hum and boring for me so I'm asking for my credit back.
