About this listen
A New Life Series is an epic adventure. Tori Farrell's life IS one wild story... escaped from a biker gang and running from drug lords... used by the FBI and hoping to protect her present from her past... it's dark - it's brutal, and it's worth every minute of it!

Very Engaging
What made the experience of listening to Captive the most enjoyable?
The story draws you in and keeps you wanting to figure out what is going to happen to the people involved. Lyric has a wonderful voice. I might just listen to this more than once.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Captive?
I wouldn't list a single point or two. More of the over all journey. You are with Tori as she makes the, sometimes painful, path to grow. i love how to narrator seems to pick on up this and you can feel the strength of Tori build through out the book.
Which character – as performed by lyric – was your favorite?
Favorite character would have to be the main character, Tori. What was also very enjoyable was that Lyric gave each character their own tone and accent. This really helps someone like me to keep it straight on who is speaking. Something I would have trouble with other wise
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I am not one to normally have a external reaction to something I am reading. Is very internal for me. That being said I found many of characters being someone I could care about. I think this is partly do to the writing as well as to the narration.
Any additional comments?
A very enjoyable book. I am looking for to the next installment and hope the same narrator is involve. Would mess up my head space to get a new voice for these characters

My dark obsession
I seem to have an affinity for stories with dark overtones. I am definitely a fan of Biker MCs. This one was just as dark as some of the rest. Tori has been through it all and this story may contain triggers for some. It contains violence, rape, and vengeance.
We go through this dark adventure with Tori who has been damaged by everything she has been subjected to. It is a hard listen for those who cannot handle the darkness of all that Tori has experienced in her life. But this story is told in such a way that you cannot help but be engrossed throughout the whole book.
I want to say I enjoyed reading it. I don't think that's a proper word for what I felt as I read/listened to this novel. I would say I was more enthralled with the story. Much like those TV movies you watch on Lifetime where the main character has been through so much. It is difficult to sit through but you cannot help but wonder what is going to happen next.
I do not think I have heard this narrator, Lyric, before. However, even though I think her voice was great for Tori that portrayed the vulnerability of her youth as well as a little bit of strength. I do believe that this story would have been even better with both Lyric and a male narrator. At any rate, it did not detract from the story and is a great listen.

ComPLETELY different take on a Biker MC.
I did NOT see this one coming. Usually I melt FOR the Biker MC members but, uh, nooooo. What an offbeat concept Samantha Jacobey has come up with! Dark and twisted and Tori has one hard road ahead of her to untangle herself from the Dragons. Well written and consuming story.
First time listen to Lyric’s narration. She sounded too innocent for the severity of Tori's character. I’m not saying she did a poor job, just that I didn’t fit her voice well to the character.

Good Read
Captive (New Life #1) was a good read by Samantha Jacobey. Tori Farrell has lived a very dangerous life. She grew up with a Motorcycle Gang of Mercenaries and Drug Lords.Living a normal life always seemed like a fairytale she would never have. Her world consisted of sex, drugs, violence, and murder; and she accepted that fate. But with all of this she also earned survival. She used her skills of seduction and assassination in order to free herself from the Dragons. She is taken in by the FBI and is afraid that everything isn't as it seems. I really enjoyed this book about Tori's second chance at life and can't wait to read more in this series.

Fun to listen to.
If you could sum up Captive in three words, what would they be?
Appealing Sexually Captivating
What other book might you compare Captive to and why?
New in devour but loving it.
Which character – as performed by lyric – was your favorite?
Tori
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
If you are looking for something to get you into the erotic mood, this book is a great start for such exploration. There is a chapter that tugs at you in the sensual way that makes you remember being a woman freshly touched.
Any additional comments?
Along with the sexual enjoyment of this book the mystery of Tori's story unfolding is enjoyable and keeps your interested. I quite loved getting to listen to this first book in the series.

The Beginning To A Series Like No Other
This was one of those books that was hard to turn off. It's not an easy read to listen to because of what Tori has been through. But you come to care about what she's been through and want to know that she's able to put all that terror behind her. If you have any triggers, you may need to be wary of this one. Men always seem to take advantage of her for their own pleasure.
One thing I had trouble with was that our narrator sounded like she talked too long and got to a point where she sounded out of breath. It also sounded like she mispronounced a few words. But not having read the book I can't say that for certain. I think she was perfect in trying to picture what Tori might look like but not so much for the men. But with some of the violence that has been a part of Tori's life I don't mind that so much.
If you're someone that's looking for something totally out of your comfort zone than you will have that here. But know that this is a series that must be read, or listened to, in order. Otherwise it would be as if you're cheating and jumping ahead so you won't be surprised when you go back. When I got to the end of this one it did leave me wanting to know what the author had destined for both the reader and our main character in the next book. One thing I was surprised about was that the book is listed as a romance. I just wasn't feeling that at all.
