About this listen
This one goes to all you Brad’s out there. An interwoven story unfolds with Sheriff Bucky Ballard, his Deputy cousin, Busby “Bus” Ballard, and Forensic Investigator Fiona Peach and her private team on the trail of Kat Walker, a travel nurse with a deadly hobby.
“What’s your name darlin’?” the Love Doctor asked.
“It’s Kat, from Sugardale, Georgia.”
The chloroform was starting to wear off as Brad made more noises and coughed against his gag. He moaned as Kat pushed herself to stand and he wailed when his eyes focused below. His face was red and flushed as he hung over the side. He cried and attempted to maneuver his way out from his restraints. To no avail, he couldn’t pull loose but only tightened the knots. His muscles were taxed from being drugged, dragged, starved, and shut up in the trunk for hours on end. He spit out his socks and looked around until he saw Kat standing over him.
“It’s you. You Nutty Bitch.”

Story
Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives - predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning - and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development.

Engaging
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the narrator. I’ve heard worse, though. Still, the story kept me interested.
The MC was, in a word, disturbing, but engaging as well.
The supporting characters all added to the story and as the different layers of interaction between them unfolded, I remained involved in the story.
I await the next book because you can’t just leave us hanging! ;-)

Great story & very interesting characters
This was a very good book! The language is very descriptive and truly paints the story. I have read many Freida McFadden books, and this is on par murder mystery wise. The romance scenes go as into detail as Anne Rice. I really liked the representation of differently-abled characters. It added a lot of richness to the story. It’s a quick and enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to the next installment of Sugar.

Revenge thriller
"Caller No. 5" by Elizabeth Blackwood is an exceptional thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat! The story follows a traveling nurse who seeks revenge on the Brads in her life, blending intense action and suspense with a touch of spice. I found it impossible to put down. Blackwood masterfully develops her characters, making them feel real and relatable. Kat, in particular, stands out as a favorite—she's emotionally resilient, sassy, and just a bit unpredictable. This is a well-crafted narrative that hooks you from the start and leaves you wanting more!
The narrator, Stephanie Triplett, did an amazing job and had a perfect performance!

A Wild Ride Full of Deadly Fun
Oh wow! I loved listening to this. It was humorous as all heck. I laughed out loud quite a bit.. The way things were described was super interesting and really unique.
I also really loved a lot of the characters. They were refreshing and relatable in many ways.
I definitely recommend giving this a good Ole listen and or read!

We’ve all known this person
First of all, let me explain my review title. I feel like everyone has met very often had to deal with someone like Kat. of course not a homicidal psychopath but someone who can’t outgrow or heal from trauma that they sustained in their teenage years and it ends up, destroying them and those who love them. I found her to be a very complex character and not completely unlikable. our protagonist seem to be pretty standard but again not in a bad way. While it’s a fairly short novel Blackwood was able to tell a fairly complex story that effectively ramped up to an awesome ending.
Triplett did a very good job bringing the characters to live. I appreciate the use of multiple voices giving each their own personality. Often times when we have books set in the south the narrator overcooks the accent, making them sound ignorant. Triplett did a very good job bringing cats boys to life.

Terrible narration & basic storyline
Original review: I liked nothing about this book. It was juvenile and poorly written. It also has one of the worst narrations ever. Use your credits elsewhere.
Edit: I feel it isn't fair to leave a bad review without being constructive. I feel the author puts the cart before the horse here. In the first few chapters we learn who's doing the killing and why they are doing it. The premise is a good one, however, I need a reason to keep reading. When I learn the who and why up front I lose interest. I guess since I actually finished it, it's not all bad. I really hated the narration and that may have skewed my view of the actual story.
