I loved reading this but hearing Kenneth Obi narrate it made it that much better! It was great that all four books are together in one audiobook as the stories are a little on the short side.

Stunning, absolutely stunning. No anxiety, no crime, no peril, just delicious supportive friends and family interactions ... this is the way you'd want your kids to learn and live if they needed dominance and submission in their lives ... this is kinky family life at its best. The personalities in these books are so well written, and the pairings so unique and comfortable. I know I"ll be listening to these books many, many times.

I Was expecting a LOT more kink - but I really try hard to give reviews based on “what it was”… which was a collection of fluffy fun stories about brothers that all happen to work together and play together at a BDSM club when they found the time / as the club is in less than 20% of the books / the reason for 3 stars only was because the inner dialogue or the childish pranks between brothers seemed sooooo repetitive to the point sometimes distracting / I really don’t want to read smut and go into mom mode - “boys! It’s called a grocery store get your own damned dessert!!!” Jus sayin/ knowing this upfront I recommend this as a light weekday commute to work listen

shaw and kenneth.. omg... they are amazing together.. shaw writes these perfect.. indepth characters and somehow kenneth takes these characters from paper and put them into these amazingly wonderful personalities and words. kenneth is perfect for these roles and these people. i loved it

I have enjoyed this author and narrator before, but this series did not work for me. Too much instalove, too shallow characters and the kink was just too light and cutesy s'cute. I'm hard pressed to even admit that this is BDSM in my book. But that's me - I like my kink with a bit of grit and preferably a bit of pain. I want my subs submitting from a position of strength and I want my doms to be just a tad on the sadistic site...

I think this book would be great as a gateway book for people with an interest in light bdsm, because we do not get much more than a bit of sugar kink in either of the books. But for voracious BDSM readers like me, it was just too light and fluffy.
Furthermore I thought Kenneth Obi - whom I normally enjoy - made some weird narration choices and I had trouble figuring out who spoke sometimes, especially in Brent's story.

The stories range from 2-3 stars, same does the narration. So overall this would get 2.5 stars from me.

For people who are not really into BDSM

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the 2 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.

This is a wonderful series! I love how sweet and caring all the characters are with each other. Apart from the relentless teasing between the brothers, of course, which was a lot of fun to listen to. Very recognizable for anyone with siblings!

It was great to be able to listen to all these stories in one sweep!
They are all connected and though each story focuses on one couple in particular, we are also kept in the loop as to what is happening with the other brothers and their (soon to be) lovers.
Each couple faces their own specific set of issues and overcomes them together, but there are no great conflicts between the happy couples themselves.
My personal favourites are Brent & Calen and Bryce, Oliver & Troy.

I loved how the brothers' mother was brought into the story. Her influence on her sons and the love they have for her is clear in each individual story, but we only get to meet her near the end of the third book (Grant). I thought it was super lovely to have the epilogue told from her perspective. I adored her!
Similarly, the choice to introduce all four brothers and their prospective partners via Ben and Connor in the short prequel The Owners was a really nice touch.

The narration was very well done! Kenneth Obi really brought the characters to life. I loved the choice to give Brent a deeper voice than his lover/dom, Calen.

This series is so well written. I was hooked when I read it on my own and to hear Mr. Obi narrate it just makes it better. I love the sexiness of this series! This is on my re-listen list for sure.

Bound & Controlled: The Complete Series consists of four short books and one prequel short story. It will take you less than eighteen hours to listen through all of them, so you can easily be done with the boxed set in a weekend.

What all of the books have in common is the BDSM lifestyle, which is better than in most Eroticas that I've read. For example, the Doms keep questioning themselves about whether they are doing right by their subs and they do their best to take care of the subs.

However there were some inconsistencies, mainly in Brent, which was the one I disliked the most, partly because of the inconsistencies, partly because the narrator would mix up the voices in it.
This was also the case with Bryce, where there were three main characters. Even so, this book and the short prequel were my favorites in the boxed set. Oliver's name might not have been the title, but he was the highlight in this book for me more than anything or anyone else in it.

Apart from the voice mix up, there were two other problems with the recording.

The first was when the recording stopped for a moment (it was either in The Owners or in Garrett). However! I've been having some problems with my computer lately, so in this case my own PC might've been at fault.

The second instance though was something so odd, I'm not sure how to describe it. The story stopped as the characters were speaking, there was a mumbled word or two that I couldn't understand, and then the story resumed as if nothing happened.

But let's get back to the story and characters.

There were no big conflicts, but there were a few misunderstandings or people being too shy or insecure to talk about their BDSM preferences, so you get some emotional tension, not just sexual. As for the R-rated parts: these are not the best sex scene I've read or listened to, but they weren't awkward and definitely were closer to "good" than "average" for me. There's a variety of kinks included, so it's likely you'll find yours in here.

I had a bit of a problem with how fast the characters started calling each other "mine", but the books aren't that long, so I guess the author had to speed things up. Another thing that might put you off is that there are too many epithets and repetitions (there are only so many times you can hear the phrase "the sexy sub"). However, there are also some cute scenes and a whole lot of food banter that takes away from the intensity of the sex scenes and gives you time to just chill along with the characters. I appreciated that because as much as I enjoy naughty content, I get bored when there's nothing else in the book.

Bound & Controlled is not something I'd recommend reading/listening to if you want a moving story, but it's something I'd suggest if you want to be turned on. A word of advice: don't listen to the books one right after the other because the repetitions are more obvious that way. I think I would've enjoyed them more if I'd gone for one book per weekend.
