About this listen

There wasn’t too much in my life that I could complain about; I had a career that I loved, a group of friends that I would do anything for - who had my back in return - and my family wanted for nothing. Most importantly, I was content with pretending that I didn’t want something that I couldn’t have anyway. The desire was always there, but there were rules in place that were never to be broken.

But then those rules were shattered when two of my friends hooked up, and my world instantly tilted on its axis.

Once Shad and Aisha became a couple, the urges that I’d suppressed for years not only resurfaced but demanded that I take action. With my number one excuse no longer viable, the only thing standing between me and the woman I love is the fact that she doesn’t take me seriously. I’ve never backed down from a challenge in my life, and I’d be a fool to start when what I want is so close that I can taste her. Instead of trying to explain to Monie that we were perfect for one another, I was going to convince her of it by showing her that I’d always been the man she needed.

Good read

I think sometimes it is good to be friends before lovers. On the other hand it could get complicated!

I like!

Let me start buy saying that I enjoyed Book 1 so much that I went right into book 2, so I am 2 for 2 in 2 days. They were both really cute short stories, this one a little longer than the first. Emmanuel did his thing once again, and while the friends to lover theme could have taken on a corny direction- especially since it happened in book 1 too- It actually works for this series. There was just enough of everything to keep me very engaged- and these types of positive friendships amongst young black professionals always makes me smile. Job well done Ms. Higgins.

Now, about this little sudo cliff hanger though.. I need the details on Miss Liz- ASAP!

Great Short!

This was a great short and follow up to Benefriends! Per usual Mr Ingram laid down that narration! Loved it!

So far So good

Very easy listen. I played it during my commute from home to work and back and I was able to follow and laugh along with the story. The interaction between friends is beautiful and well written. It was cool to read about a guy who was ready to change his ways and pursue the woman he wanted. This is the second book in the series and mu second book by this author and I've loved both so far.

Vic Betta Get His Woman!!!

I loved me some Vic and Moni but, she worked my last nerve. Moni fought tooth and nail and refused to admit her feelings for Vic. Whew chile! She was worse than a man. But, when Vic got tired of getting his feelings hurt and stepped away, Moni suddenly found some act right and realized she was in love. Sigh....... why, of, why must they play these games?!!! She got on my nerves but, I really like Moni and Vic as a couple. They had great chemistry and they were perfect for each other. But, on another note, can we discuss how the author dresses the characters? Newsflash, no black man in 2021 is wearing a cumber bond with a tux. No man of any race is wearing a cumber bond with a tux. What is this 1982?!!! In Fast Breaker, the author had Toy wearing a fanny pack. A fanny pack?!!! Seriously?!!! You couldn't just give her a wristlet?!!! Y'all have got to stop dressing these 20 and 30 something characters like they're old folks from the 80's. Whew chile! Beyond Benefriends was a good friends to lovers read. I'm hoping we don't have to wait too long for Lisette's story in the next installment so we can get some clarification on that tea Carrie dropped about her and Darwin.
