Publisher's summary

Endings.

Everyone and everything has one. They’re inevitable, right?

At twenty-one, Ason ‘Ace’ Williams Jr. knows all about inevitable endings. He’s formerly famous, a popular rapper’s muse, the son of a three-time NBA champ, and a little… complicated. After a disturbing scandal and loss rocks his world, he’s left to deal with both in a city that doesn’t quite feel like home. It’s a place filled with old family friends he’s never met, reminders of all the endings he’s had to endure, and even worse—he’s stuck there after his dad takes a job no one ever imagined him taking.

Eighteen-year-old Lourdes ‘Phat’ Hines doesn’t think about endings because she’s too busy dealing with the now. She’s a part-time college student, full-time caretaker, and worst of all, a lowly freshman on a campus she doesn’t have time to get accustomed to. After a tense run-in with a boy she’s sure she’s supposed to hate, the endings she’s been running from catch up to her at full speed and she faces a question he seems to have the answer to: What happens at the end of it all?

True Love

The story line kept me going. Ace and the way he was a child of privilege and super talented but was just so humble and giving. Phat the young inexperienced slightly immature girl that dedicated herself to taking care of her Mom was heartwarming. Wesleigh and Jakobi’s voices are THEE BEST. They could narrate an old yellow pages and I’d be hooked

Planet Ace is the best place

This is my first story that I’ve read by Rae Lyse and I am sold on her story telling. The way that she crafted this story, I can’t form the words to how beautifully written this story was. There were so many layers to the characters. This story was a slow burn. Sometimes I have a love hate with those because if you take too long I lose interest. Never happened with this one. The development with these characters had me so engrossed in this story. I had all the emotional attachments with Ace and Lourdes.

Ace was my guy. He was so painfully scarred with a pure heart. I can’t get over the way that he looked out for and cared for Lourdes and her innocence. He understood that she had to learn those lessons of growing up and he let her but not being too far away. The way that he cared for her mom and helped her with Mama CC because of experience just melted my heart. Ace had the world on his shoulders while he drowned his pain. My guy was grieving and self sabotaging himself to numb the pain. My heart was breaking for him. But I was so glad that he developed the relationship with Lourdes.

Lourdes was definitely inexperienced in a lot of ways. She meant well and did what she needed to do to care for those around her. She was trying to be a caregiver although she barely knew how to do most things but she did them. She tried to live her young teenage Iife but with some adult situations going on it was hard to do that. I loved how she ended up loving Ace and how she supported him even if she wasn’t aware of all the things that he consisted of. But I can say that he told her how messed up he was. He didn’t lie to her. His sole purpose was to protect her no matter what.

I fell in love all over again once Lourdes found out how she got her name. It was destiny for these two. I can go on and on with talking about Ace because there were so many levels to him. He was boarder line controlling but even in that I could understand why. Cree- I can’t say that I really liked her or didn’t like her. She was in a tough spot is all I can say. I didn’t like Bryson because you were doing entirely too much and was a hater for real.

Plane Ace was the place to be. No stress. Nothing but love. One can be themselves without judgement. Planet Ace was home. Home is where the heart is!

In case you didn’t know, I freaking loved this story. I hadn’t been this enamored with a story in a long time and I am glad to have read this.

The audio performance was top tier because Wesleigh and Jakobi ALWAYS do well together.

2 Words, Growing pains

This was a coming of age that zoomed in to the life of “Fat” and Ace.
It went into a lot of granular details and I felt the story could have been streamlined. Yet, I really got to know the characters and couldn’t stop listening
I was rooting for them! I always enjoy flawed people falling in love. Besides the length, I don’t like how Ace sought to control Fat and was often condescending and treated her like a child.

It was annoying and disturbed me that he would date someone who was emotional junior. Like he groomed her and engaged into too much mind f#%^€ry. It was learned dependency and … not of fan. Except in the bedroom, being “bossed” around or speaking to me like I’m “in trouble “ and the pops on the ass leaving bruises? Kick rocks on that BS.

Sweet

Such a sweet and touching story. I wasn't as much into the controlling, but Ace was wise beyond his years.

What really happened

This story shows we have to stop judging people. Even if they did do something wrong that Job is Gods. But this story shows that people lie for their own gain. Parents we have to make sure what we are given out that we take care of home 1st

Beautifully Written

I wasn't going to use a credit in this book because it was about kidd but when it went on sale, I decided the cost was worth the risk. This book is for adults young and middle aged. The in depth development of the characters and their healing process overrides their ages. This book is emotionally intense, confusing, clarifying, sad, pleasing, and happy. If you like that, READ (listen to) THIS BOOK!

Love and redemption

It took me a few chapters to get into the characters and story but once i did, i was all in. These moms hit close to home and the love the MCs share was beautiful. Of course the audio dynamic duo of Jakobi and Wesleigh just make it that much better
