About this listen

Syren Rua is at war. He battles painful childhood demons and his intense need for the first person who makes him feel. As Faro, Syren makes deals with the worst while taking the steps necessary to bring his family’s killer to justice. He isn’t one to indulge in selfish needs, but he’ll make the time in this instance. Syren has been watching Kane Ashby, craving the grieving man for his own. He’s always stayed away from temptation, but that’s about to change. Kane isn’t over the death of his longtime partner. He’s certainly not ready for a relationship, sexual or otherwise, but Syren isn’t a man who takes no for an answer. The unpredictable Syren offers nothing but secrets and brings with him memories so dark, they could wipe out any chance the two might ever have. Syren brings Kane’s heart back to life. But it is also Syren who could inflict the most damage. Inside Scoop: One of our heroes has a panty fetish. And it’s hot. This book also contains brief references to rape and child abuse.

Fantastic Syren!

What made the experience of listening to A Sinner Born the most enjoyable?

The story was just awesome. I'm glad that Kane and Syren were able to overcome the heartbreak of the past enough to give their love a chance.

What did you like best about this story?

Syren. He was so heartbreakingly funny with such a dry strange voice. I loved the part about the panties...so sexy.

Any additional comments?

Syren's voice was bad.

i do wish I read this one rather than listen to it. The story was good but the narrator's voice for Syren was not enjoyable.

This story featured Syren Rua (the man with many identities) and his quest for revenge and reclamation of his true self. We learned in the prior books that Syren was working as a double/triple agent against his employer, Ricardo De la Torre, who murdered his family and sold him to slavery. As Syren worked as Faro, he had come into contact with Federal Agent Kane Ashby (brother of Gabe Ashby). Kane was still mending from the death of his partner. But the both of them shared an attraction that they couldn’t deny. Once again, this series pits two men who are on the opposite sides of the law with each other, and like the prior couples, Syren and Kane work.

Out of all the books I have listened to so far, this was the most pain-filled by far. A lot of people were hurting, from Isa, Syren, Kane, heck even Marshal Jack who made an appearance. What I love is the author gives each couple a unique journey to their HEA, and makes it enjoyable for us to follow.

My only complaint was the narrator’s Syren’s voice wasn’t good at all. I realized he was trying to give Syren a whimsical, almost effeminate voice, but it didn’t work for me. But I loved his personality, his fetish and his flight or fight responses to Kane. The chemistry was there, the story was entertaining and I am so glad I discovered this series this month.

Woah!

FYI: This is m/m romance.. and graphic violence... It's a gang member/cop romance... so be warned!

Ok... Out of all the books in this series... This one always makes me cry!!!! I feel so bad for Syren and Kane... for different reasons of course..but still!!!

Syren is Farrow, which we learned at the end of book 1... but his backstory was simply sad and outrageous! Plus Syren as Farrow... dang he is still suffering!!!

I really liked Kane, but I after a while I just wanted him to give in..but he was so hung up over his last lover.. C'mon already... it's been 3 years!

Loved the ending...

Great buy/credit/sale

Narration, yet again...superb!

Nice 3rd installment

This was a nice 3rd installment. However, I hated Syren's voice, so it took a little away from the book. The narrator did a great job on the other voices. The story is just OK. The 2nd book remains my favorite as I thought the couple's story was a little more exciting. This story was a little boring. Mostly it is about exercising demons. But, I really like the way previous couples are incorporated into the story. This is definitely a series you have to read in order to get the full effect. Worth a credit if you are a fan of the series.

💖 Syren, Syren, Syren 💖

Any additional comments?

This story was so amazing when I first read it some time ago!

But Mr. Pasquale turned an amazing read into an awe dropping, action pack, heart-wrenching romance entertaining audio that I'd absolutely listen to again.

His accent for Syren was breathtaking. I swear I could listen to him speak as Syren all day long. That accent was beyond sexy and I found myself swooning. -sigh- Why can't all narrators be this good! lol

Best of the series

What made the experience of listening to A Sinner Born the most enjoyable?

Great narrator, great story, Love the story of Kane and Syran. What a story of past and present intersecting with each other and having to fight demons and ghosts.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Syran was by far my favorite character in this book, maybe the whole series. What a past to overcome and a passion to avenge it. His ability to love is unbelievable all the way to the end when he even learns to love himself. LOVED this story.

Have you listened to any of Renard Pasquale’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just with the other sinners books! Good narrator, would buy an audio if he was the narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, tried to listen to the whole thing in one day while going back and forth with reading it when I could not listen

Not my favorite in the series

This is a VERY INTENSE story. Syren’s story isn’t ieasy and I think that there are a lot of things in this that could be potential triggers for people, so read the blurb and it’s warning carefully.

I think first of all this is a story about two very broken men, with a whole car full of luggage. We have Kane’s story- he’s still in love with his dead partner and it shapes his entire life.

Then we have Syren, who has been beaten and raped and abused so long that all he has room for in his heart is revenge.

When they get together it is so improbable that they’d find in one another the bridge that can lead to mended hearts, but yet they somehow do.

I can’t say this was my favorite, because books one and two are still so near and dear to my heart, but, that being said, this book holds its own in the company of such greatness.

There is a lot of deep emotion, pain and wonderful sentiment in this story. There were things that bothered me some: Kane’s pining, Syren’s inability to tell the truth, the way the two finally get together in the end (I needed Kane to grovel a whole helluva lot more than he did) but those are small in comparison to the rest of the story which is fantastic.

(Some of this is my own taste in that I’m not a fan of angst for angst sake, nor do I care for BDSM or similar styles of romances and this has a LOT of angst and elements of BDSM that just don’t sit well with me. )

Audio

First, I want to know where Renard Pasquale is now. Damn, he’s so GOOD! I can’t believe there aren’t more of his narrations around and if anyone can tell me more about where he is now I’d love to know!

There are a lot of different voices, characters, accents and dialects in this story and for the most part Renard does the MOST AMAZING job with them all. (I super love the Cajun CI and the Jamaican lover!) He also handles the pacing and the drama – oh the drama! – with ease.

What I didn’t love was Syren’s voice. It didn’t seem to fit the character – at all! – and it bothered me a lot. Syren is this petite, suave and sophisticated character who I picture as very swishy and somewhat femme. The voice we get is a somewhat caricature – a Daddy Warbucks type whose voice is far too deep (to me). This kept me from enjoying this narration as much as the others in this series. Not enough to make me stop listening, but I’m not as full of the love for this as I am for the others.

He also didn’t do a great job with Syren’s daughter but… the rest were superb!

A Good Sinner

This was a really good. Syren has been watching Kane Ashby who is Gabe's brother from the first book, craving the grieving man for his own. He’s always stayed away from temptation, but that’s about to change. Kane isn’t over the death of his longtime partner it's been 7 years. He’s certainly not ready for a relationship. Syren has been working undercover to bring down his boss. This was a really good book and sad at times the things that Syren went through Kane's inability to let go of his dead lover. Syren who likes to wear women's panties with Kane he doesn't have to hide and he can be himself. This was a really good book it was two people both trying to navigate their way through a relationship when both parties have a lot of baggage. Kane to afraid to try again and Syren to afraid to try at all and with all the secret's that Syren have it's very complicated. This book was well read I really liked the narrator's voice. I really like this series and I am looking forward to listening to the next book in this series Tommy and Mateo.
