The Quran, a book which brings glad tidings to mankind along with divine admonition, stresses the importance of man's discovery of truth on both spiritual and intellectual planes. Every book has its objective, and the objective of the Quran is to make man aware of the Creation plan of God. That is, to tell man why God created this world; what the purpose is of settling man on Earth; what is required from man in his pre-death life span, and what he is going to confront after death.

في هذا الكتاب أراد العقاد هنا يطرح طرحًا جديدًا لقضية الشر الذي يُمثله الشيطان؛ فقرر منذ اللحظات الأولى للكتاب أن ظهور (إبليس) على وجه الأرض كان كُلَّ الخير! خيرٌ حين بدأ التمييز بين الخير والشر؛ حيث لم يكن بينهما تمييز قبل معرفة الشيطان بأفعاله، ووساوسه، وصفاته، وخفايا مقاصده الدنيئة.

" أنا الشهيد... ربي الله الواحد الأحد، ونبيي "محمد"، وديني الإسلام.... وكما تعلمان ولدت ونشأت في القاهرة سنة 1979م، في عائلةٍ فاحشة الثراء لأعيش بضع سنواتٍ مغيبًا عن ربي، عشت حياة مليئة بالترف والرفاهية، خالية من الألم والطاعة، حتى سبقنا والداي لملاقاة ربهما وأنا في الثامنة، لأصبح شريدًا في تلك الحياة البائسة، حتى هداني الرحمن قبل أن أتم العاشرة لأسلم له نفسي التائهة واهبًا له إياها طواعية، حتى وصلتني الرسالة المبشرة، فلقد تمت بالفعل دعوتي، جاء أجلي وحلت ساعتي، عندما قتلني (هو) ودنس قدسيتي، لأغادر جسدي بحثًا عن حقيقتي، لأدرك من البرزخ نهايتي، مطلعًا على سر كينونتي. سر الثالوث الأوحد...

على امتداد التاريخ حاول البشر بلوغ هذه الحالة علّهم يلامسون تخومها، وما إن يشعروا باقتراب تلك التخوم حتى تبدأ رحلة التيه، يتحيرون وتحيرهم تلك الشرفات الضبابية الأخاذة..يتخبطون في وصفها ومحاولة تعريفها وتحليلها... حيرةٌ عانتها الصوفية في عالم التدين، وعانتها البوذية في عالم الوثنية، وعانتها السوريالية في عالم الحداثة المادية اللادينية !! كل هذه التوجهات تتوهم أنّها في الطريق إلى تجاوز تلك الحدود، واختراق تلك العتمة وملامسة العتبات التي تصل عالم المادة بذلك العالم؛ عالم الروح عند الصوفية، أو ما بعد النرفانا عند البوذية، أو الخط الفاصل بين الوعي واللاوعي عند السوريالية.
