Holger Munch and Mia Kruger

A six-year-old girl is found in the Norwegian countryside, hanging lifeless from a tree and dressed in strange doll's clothes. Around her neck is a sign that says, "I'm traveling alone." A special homicide unit in Oslo reopens with veteran police investigator Holger Munch at the helm. Holger's first step is to persuade the brilliant but haunted investigator Mia Krüger, who has been living on an isolated island, overcome by memories of her past.

When a six-year-old girl is found dead, hanging from a tree, the only clue the Oslo Police have to work with is an airline tag around her neck. It reads, 'I'm travelling alone'. Holger Munch, veteran police investigator, is immediately charged with reassembling his homicide unit. But to complete the team, he must convince his erstwhile partner, Mia Krüger - a brilliant but troubled investigator - to return from the solitary island where she has retreated with plans to take her own life.

When a troubled teenager disappears from an orphanage and is found murdered, her body arranged on a bed of feathers, veteran investigator Holger Munch and his team are called into the case. Star investigator Mia Kruger, on temporary leave while she continues to struggle with her own demons, jumps back on the team and dives headfirst into this case - just in time to decode the clues in a disturbing video of the victim before she was killed, being held prisoner like an animal in a cage.

In Sweden two young boys are murdered, their corpses left in an almost brutally artistic arrangement, and the case remains unsolved. Years later, two more young boys are murdered in Norway in similar circumstances. Mia Krüger, a young trainee at the Police Academy is drafted in to help solve the case due to her uncanny ability to piece together these horrific stories. Teamed up with Munch, her skills and his experience start to show that the two cases may be connected.
