    Hi!

To add artwork to your YouTube channel (as well

as any other customization you wish to make), just

click on the “Customize Channel” button on the top

    right of the page.

Once you do this, you’ll be taken to another screen

where you can edit different parts of your profile.

The blue “Add Channel Art” button should be in the

center of the top border of the editor page.

This will bring up a pop-up window that will give

you the option to upload your own custom artwork.

You can also try one of YouTube’s templates from the

Gallery or upload a photo of your own.

We recommend taking a bit of time and creating your own

unique artwork with one of the free programs available

    online such as Canva.

Once your image is uploaded, you get a preview of what

it’s going to look like on desktop, television, or mobile.

If you need to, click on the “Adjust the Crop” button to

make certain your image is lined up correctly.

The clear section in the middle of the grid will show you

the content that is going to be displayed on a mobile or

desktop screen, and the rest of the image shows what’s on

    a television screen.

When you’re satisfied with the way everything looks, click

the “Select” button to add the art to your channel and save

    it.

If you ever want to change your artwork, it’s very easy.

Just hover your mouse over the image and you’ll see an

“Edit” button in the top right hand corner.

This will let you upload something else or edit what you

    already have.

Your channel will also have a space for your profile

picture (or icon). This is the icon that will show up

next to your videos and channel on every YouTube page.

The important thing to remember here is to choose something

that will be crisp and clear at very small resolution.

Your channel icon should be 800 x 800 pixels, and should

be either a .jpg, .gif, .bmp, or .png file.

And keep in mind that you can’t use animated .gif files

    for your profile.

To upload or update your profile icon, just go to your

channel homepage and hover your mouse over the current

icon until you see the “Edit Icon” link appear.

Click that and you can upload a new image.

    Done!

In our next lesson, we’ll talk about ways that

    you can optimize your channel.
