    Hi,

In our last lesson, we talked about the importance

of choosing a theme for your channel.

Today, we’ll talk about creating a solid strategy

that will help you create a snapshot of what you

want and expect from your channel.

Before you create your channel, you’ll want to

develop a strategy that gives you clear direction.

Let’s start by answering a few questions:

What are your ultimate goals for your channel?

Knowing what you hope to achieve from your channel

early on is key to your overall success.

Whether your channel’s main objective is to maximize

awareness of an existing brand or build a new business

quickly, it’s important to understand the purpose of

    your channel.

Then, set both small and large goals and celebrate

milestones along the way. Doing this will keep you

    motivated and focused.

    Who is your target audience?

Try to be as specific as you can with this one.

How old are your typical viewers? What gender are they?

    Marital status? Hobbies? Interests?

What are they going to want out of you and how are

    you going to deliver?

Having a clear image of your target viewers will

help you reach the right people and grow your channel

    properly.

Why should your audience watch your videos?

What are you going to give them that someone else

in your field isn’t already providing?

Why should they choose your channel over the millions

of other how-to channels out there?

This is one place where you don’t want to join in the

status quo – you want to disrupt it.

How are you going to deliver your content?

Are you going to post every day? Once a week? At a

    specific time of day?

Think about your target audience. When are they most

likely to be watching videos? How many videos do they

    watch in a week?

Tailor your posting schedule to your target audience’s

viewing habits and you’ll find it a lot easier to grow

    your audience quickly.

    What is your channel about?

If you have the word “and” in your reply, your channel

is likely too broad and vague.

Instead, choose a very specific topic and stick to it

when starting out – at least until your channel has a

    strong foothold in your niche.

Once you’ve thought about each one of these questions

and answered them honestly, you’ll have a better

understanding of what your channel’s overall purpose is

    and your business goals.

And knowing all this will give you something we call a

Value Proposition, which tells your audience who you

are and why they should watch your channel.

You’ll have a clear focus, a strong theme and a solid

brand message that resonates with your audience.

In our next lesson, we’ll talk about editing your videos.
