Welcome to a new episode of Ye Olde Dragon's Library. Here in season 8, we're listening to the next book in the Guardians of the Time Stream Series, Sanctuary. Our heroine, Ess Fremont, must venture across the country by train to claim her heritage as an Originator, all the time knowing that the same enemies who made her grandparents disappear in South America might be waiting to steal the information and the treasure that she uncovers.

Maddix returns to Stonemount to die. His cousin is made regent, and Princess Fiera is saved from having to marry him. She takes his son home to raise as her son, and ensure he is a better king than his father. Kalista gives Taran and Bard a mission: raise Ivy to fulfill an important magical duty of custodianship of a wild magical continent on the other side of the sea.

Chapter 22:

The merchants disguise Taran and the horses, and hide Ivy in a wagon. When Maddix is about to stop the wagon, Bard appears as a wolf. Maddix and his men attack, Bard is injured, and Taran turns to wolf to defend him. Princess Arden appears, using her healing magic on Bard. The curse is broken, but Bard chooses to reunite with the wolf to save the wolf's life.

Taran, Bard and Ivy flee to the border. Maddix and his men race after them, trying to cut them off. Separated from Bard who is a wolf by day, Taran and Ivy make friends with a band of merchants. Then they see Maddix and his henchmen have reached the border ahead of them, and are waiting for them to try to cross.

Fiera is angry over the changes in Maxin's nursemaids. Her argument with Maddix results in him giving her guardianship of his son. He intends to use it against her. He goes to speak with Bard as a man, and tries to convince him to serve him.
