She Reinvented is a new podcast about women who have or are reinventing themselves well over the age of 35 - in their late 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. Why reinventing after the age of 35?Society can encourage us to make big changes when we’re in our 20s. That's the decade that you're “allowed” to try to figure things out.But it’s usually much later - in our 40s and 50s and 60s when we have the experience, wisdom, and hindsight to now make better decisions about our life moving forward, which often includes pivoting and changing course…And yet this is when it is least accepted by society to make big changes. And even though it’s usually between the ages of 35-55 that we finally have the clarity to realize that the mountain we’ve been climbing, is not the mountain we want to be at the top of…Since it's not as encouraged at that age to make big changes, we can be wracked with self-doubt, guilt, confusion…and a sense of “Why do I feel like my life is meaningless?..and what’s the point of it all anyways?”My 40s BurnoutI had a moment like this few years ago in 2020 - 2021.After a relationship breakup, I hit a major burnout, deep fatigue, and decided to stop taking on clients for my social media agency.I finally just accepted that what I had been doing was not what I wanted to be doing anymore…But I didn't really know what it was that I did want to be doing. What do I really want to do with my life?At the time, 4 years ago, this felt like such the most insurmountable life question that I had to solve. And I just felt stuck and unclear….and very distressed about that.I felt like if I can't tell people what I'm doing, if I can't say what it is that I am, does life even have meaning? What's the point of …anything?Deep questions, existential questions. You can call this an existential crisis. You can call this an identity crisis. And what's funny is that the term “midlife crisis” really just means an identity crisis that you happen to have in the ages between like 35 and 55, right? This is when surrounding ourselves with other late-bloomers & reinventers like us is so helpful. One of the things that finally helped me to get out of this dark period of uncertainty, was listening to stories of other women sharing their own unconventional reinventions.Because just the fact that there were women out there who had decided to stop doing whatever it was that they were doing and start doing something completely new after the age of 35, gave me hope for myself too.And thus the She Reinvented Podcast was bornThe way that the She Reinvented podcast is different than other midlife reinvention podcasts (which are also great - it's just a great topic!) is this:A lot of the current “midlife reinvention” podcasts are more about corporate pivots, career shifts, empty nesters… or in other words, continuing to improve your life into midlife: Continuing to stay fit, dealing with perimenopause, eat healthy, etc.But what I'm really interested in and the stories that I'm going to be seeking out are women who've made big changes in midlife. Who have veered off the path they were on, to go in a completely new direction.Women who are starting over or changing course after 35.Since I'm the type of person who’s never been that been conventional, I’m also drawn to stories of women leaving convention, or reinventing their lives in unconventional, creative, and multi-passionate ways.Is this podcast for you?If you're a woman in your mid 30s, 40s, 50s, and you're feeling like you might not be climbing the ladder that you want to be at the top of….But now you’re wondering if it’s it too late for you to do what you really want to do?Or you’re wondering “how do I even get clarity about what I really want to do in the first place?”Or maybe you've had a career or you've had a life that you're happy with. But now you're feeling dissatisfied, and you don't really know what options are out there for you….One of the best ways to start to get clarity, start to feel that internal spark again, is just to listen to other women’s stories- and hear all of the possibilities that exist out there. That's what helped me. And that’s what She Reinvented is all about! She Reinvented Upcoming Topics & EpisodesLook out for upcoming episodes with women who have done something different, who have gone out of the ordinary and have veered off the path that they were on.I’ll also be sharing my own reinvention journey - what’s helping me recover from burnout, rediscover and reconnect with my true self along the way.The topic of identity is a huge one. Because this can be one of our biggest obstacles to reinvention - letting go of old identities and allowing ourselves to step into new ones - even if they take us on new, unconventional paths. As well as letting go of what other people think - especially when thoughts of “I'm doing this crazy thing. This is not a normal thing to do. What are people going to think??” start...
