    Scott Bloom is the Traumatic Brain Injury Program Coordinator working within the Behavioral Health Services Division of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA). He, has been with the WDVA since 2009 having previously retired from the Army, as a Chief Warrant Officer and Aviator. Today, he continues to serve the veteran community as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and Veterans Service Officer. Scott has spent the last several years providing awareness trainings to thousands of individuals on Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Military Culture across the state of Washington, as well as offering peer to peer mentorship to former service members suffering from the lasting effects of Brain Injury. Mr. Bloom is also the Co-Chair for the Disability Rights Washington; Disability Advisory Council; a member of the Washington Traumatic Brain Injury Strategic Partnership Advisory Council, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Veterans (AMVETS), and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me." We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers. Front half of show is a featured guest.     VET RADIO - WHATS HAPPENING OUT THERE John Lee, Director of the Washington Vetrans Affaris Here how things are going as our troops are coming home after years of war to a economy spiralling in debt, unemployement devestating families and communities. Our soldiers are coming home with wounds that can't be seen to a system and society that cannot understand the challenges face these men and woman returning as well as the other 5 millinon plus already hidding in the shadows. Most not evern realizing that brain injury is the number one cause of death and disabilities in children and adults under 40. Most doctors and emergency are able to recognize or treat this silent sinister disability. People walking through life trying to fit into society. But it is hard to fit in when your friends and family look at you and cannot seem to understand why this person they remember so well seems so different. The effects of war the loss of ones self, with a pain so great and deep, and the hurt that you feel as you try to be what everyone remembers you to be. The person that everyone misses so much, the one that keeps many from moving into the future little alone accepting the present. Find out how we are helping veterans learn and accept this new person. To live a life designed by their own hopes and dreams. To create a person who they can love and share with the world and theri community. We hope to have some guests on that will share some of the amazing work they are doing to do just that. Help build hope and meaningful lifes. Creating hope for a better tomorrow for everyone. More awareness has happened in the last 10 year that all years before about brain injury. As it has been the signiture wound of our returning soldiers.

Get your voice heard and help create your show, to provide information, resources and to empower veterans to create their own future, a meaningful future that is individual just like you. We will talk about: What the Government can do for veterans and their families. If you have questions pleas call in and ask. We will talk about: What can you do for the veterans in your community, and as the show develops you will hear from vets what they need and want from thier communities. Discussions from this show will help develop future shows John E. Lee, a Vietnam War veteran and retired Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army, was appointed director of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs on November 1, 2005, by Governor Christine Gregoire. As agency director, his responsibilities include advocacy and outreach for the state’s more than 670,000 veterans and their families, as well as overseeing three veterans homes throughout the state. After completing his military service, Lee entered the public sector, joining WDVA as an administrative assistant. In 1994 he was appointed as the agency Deputy Director and has served with the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs for a total of 21 years.
