  • The Running Effect Podcast aims to bring storytelling to the sport of running. What gets people invested in a sport, movie, or book? A good story. Our sport has plenty, but no one is telling them. The Running Effect is changing that. Through our podcast episodes that release every other day, we tell the stories of those at every level of our sport. Through these incredible athletes' stories, we hope it'll inspire you to turn your "what ifs?" into realities. Back on the podcast today is Ky Robinson!

Ky was undoubtedly one of the greatest NCAA runners of our generation. Competeing for the storied Stanford University, Ky was a 2xNCAA Champion (5k/10k), leading to him being named the Men's Outdoor Track National Athlete of the Year in 2023

Ky is Stanford school-record holder in the mile, steeplechase, 5,000, and indoor 3,000.

Ky was also a 13-time All-American, an accomplishment that I have only seen once or twice in the 450 episodes of this podcast.

    Ky has run 3:52 (Mile), 7:36 (3k), 13:06 (5k), and 27:44 (10k).

Ky signed with On and the OAC out of college and will be going into his first full rookie year with them in 2025.

In today's conversation, Ky takes me through his final year at Stanford, his reflections on the legacy he left there, his decision to turn pro with On, his ambitions for the future, and much more!

I always thoroughly enjoy my conversations with Ky and this one is packed full of stories, wisdom, and actionable takeaways. Don't miss it!

  • Coach Chris Miltenberg Shares Lessons & Stories From 21 Years Of Successful Coaching + Insights On Championship Racing, Recruiting, & Attributes Of His Most Successful Athletes
    Nov 6 2024

Back on the podcast is one of the greatest coaches in NCAA history, Coach Chris Miltenberg. Following seven years at Stanford University, Coach Milt was named Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at the University of North Carolina on June 27, 2019. The 2024-25 school year is his sixth at the Tar Heel helm. The 2023-24 cross country and track and field seasons will go down as one of the best in program history for the men's teams. They finished in the Top 10 at the NCAA Championships, claiming 6th place in cross country and 5th place in outdoor track and field. The Tar Heels also won their first ACC Cross Country Championship since 1985 and their first ACC Indoor Championship since 1996. Coach Milt also led Parker Wolfe to winning North Carolina's first-ever 5,000m National Championship at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Wolfe was named the USTFCCCA Men's Southeast Regional Athlete of the Year and ACC Runner of the Year in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. He is the first ACC athlete (male or female) to sweep those honors in a year. Wolfe won five ACC championships under Coach Miltenberg and set five school records. Wolfe became the Tar Heel's first runner in history to be named to The Bowerman Award Watchlist and later became a Bowerman Award Semifinalist. The UNC men's cross country and track and field programs combined to finish 5th nationally in the 2023-24 USTFCCCA Men's Program of the Year Standings. In summary, Coach Milt is not only a transformative force in the world of track and field coaching, but also a mentor and leader who instills a deep sense of dedication and excellence in his athletes. His impressive array of accomplishments, both on and off the field, stands as a testament to his enduring legacy as one of the sport's most exceptional and influential coaches. In today's conversation, Coach Milt takes me through the ups and downs of the 2024 XC season thus far, his view on championship races, what makes a great speech, insights on recruiting, his 20yr vision for UNC, and so much more. This one is an all-timer. Don't miss it. Tap into the Coach Milt Special. If you enjoy the podcast, please consider following us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and giving us a five-star review!
