  • "Headship" or "Unity" in Ephesians 5:22? Zach and Bruce Part 3
    Oct 20 2024

Zach proposed what so many say about headship in marriage. Bruce answered, "I don't buy any of that." BUT, Bruce says Paul gives three “in the church“ and three “in the family” illustrations in the Jump, Jump, High Jump Pattern of Ephesians 5:15-6:9!

  • Patterns tell the story. THAT kind of submission is not biblical. Part 2 of Zach questions Bruce.
    Oct 13 2024

Paul did not require wives to submit to husbands in an over/under way. Paul used Word Patterns, back then, like we use Chapter Headings, today. What patterns? 1) THE PATTERN OF FOURS. 2) THE PARALLEL PATTERN. 3) THE OVERARCHING JUMP, JUMP, HIGH JUMP PATTERN. Go deeper? Get the book Beyond Eden by Bruce C. E. Fleming on Ephesians 5:15-6:9.

  • Reaching at-risk women in the Congo - Tabitha Center #316
    Oct 6 2024

This Bonus episode of The Eden Podcast is about Tabitha Center #316 – reaching and disciplemaking among at-risk women through vocational training based on the positive insights from Eden. Claudine Selenga and her husband Nubako Selenga founded and direct this ministry to 7,000 at-risk women in Kinshasa, DRCongo and beyond.

The story: Claudine and her husband Nubako had served as the leaders of their denomination in the northwestern region of the DR Congo. They moved south to the capital city of Kinshasa as Nubako began international travel heading up a new missionary association to other countries in Africa. Meanwhile Claudine was raising their six children and was open to what her next ministry activities would be.

Here is the remarkable timeline of the ministry that grew from one center in their home to multiple centers serving 7,000 at-risk women in 2024! Now located in 300 local churches they spread the Good News through Bible study and vocational training.

They discovered that many of the young neighborhood women had resorted to prostitution due to their extreme poverty. Many lacked the skills for gainful employment. Most did not know the Lord or how to grow as Christians.

So Claudine started a home Bible study group. Her first priority was evangelism and discipleship. And she has retained that priority in all that has developed since the start.

She observed their lack of marketable skills. Being a seamstress herself, among other things, Claudine got two hand cranked sewing machines and began teaching sewing to the young women. She called the work The Tabitha Center.

The young women loved the song time, the Bible lessons, the prayer time, the skills classes and more! A dozen young women started attending at first. Then 20, 25 and more started coming!

They added lessons on home economics, small business management skills, cosmetology classes, restaurant management and more.

The Kinshasa City Team led by Pastor Nubako Selenga ministry now includes these outreaches:

    • Tabitha Centers (reaching at-risk women with discipleship training and vocational skills)
    • Global Fingerprints Tabitha (an extension of Tabitha that includes literacy training)
    • Follow Me (reaching men through vocational training)
    • Kids Action Network (teaching children through Bible storytelling)
    • Planting 100 new churches (growing healthy, holy churches in Kinshasa, pop. 17 million)

  • More questions from Lauren, starting with "weaker Vessel"
    Sep 22 2024

Are women weaker in any way? Is that what 1 Peter 3 teaches? Do they have roles that can be described as weaker? Based on insights from Genesis 3:16 Bruce responds to Lauren's questions in Part 2 of this replay from her livestream to her 20,000 followers.

Bruce is interviewed by Lauren who was a Jane Doe in the Bill Gothard lawsuit. Should these passages be mistrusted or should those wayward teachings and their proponents by mistrusted? In Part Two of this interview Lauren asks Bruce about more troubling passages. What about 1 Peter 3:1-7? What about Ephesians 5:15-6:9?

Go Deeper? Bruce has written four volumes in The Eden Book Series. He refers to Book 4 (on 1 Corinthians 11 & 14 and 1 Peter 3), and Book 2 (on Ephesians 5-6) in this episode. All four are based on his doctoral research and that of Joy Fleming. Available here on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4dhU0LH

  • Untangling a Woman's Purpose - The key passages. Lauren interviews Bruce!
    Sep 15 2024

Bruce is interviewed by Lauren who was a Jane Doe in the Bill Gothard lawsuit. She asks penetrating questions revealing how mistranslations and misinterpretations of the key passages on women and men have been weaponized. Should these passages be mistrusted or should those wayward teachings and their proponents by mistrusted? In less than an hour Lauren and Bruce cover multiple passages. Go Deeper? Bruce has written four volumes in The Eden Book Series. He refers to Books 1 (on Genesis 2-3), 2 (on Ephesians 5-6) and 4 (on 1 Peter 3) in this interview. All four are based on his doctoral research and that of Joy Fleming.

On Genesis 2-3. God didn't curse Eve (or Adam) or limit woman in any way!

On Ephesians 5-6. This is not primarily a passage on marriage. Paul writes that men and women believers are to teach and correct one another in the Spirit, and at the same time they are to submit themselves to that teaching and correction. They main truth from verse 32 is that all believers are united with Jesus in one joint-body.

On 1 Peter 3:1-7. These 7 verses are Peter's advice how to witness to an unsaved spouse. In verse 7 he instructs Christian husbands not to turn off their seeking wife by unseemly behavior. Then his prayers for his spiritually weaker (unsaved) partner will not be hindered.

  • Aerospace Engineer was told NOT to study Math in High School. The Kristine Johnson Story!
    Sep 8 2024

Because she was a female, Kristine Johnson was told in her private school that upper level math was not her place. Following God's call she persevered. Now she is a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace technologies. This is her story on The Eden Podcast!

Kristine Johnson is a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies leading the hardware team and qualification testing on the GPAHRS (GPS-Aided High-Integrity Attitude and Heading Reference System), a next-generation navigation system for commercial aircraft, helicopters, and urban air mobility vehicles. She is also the systems lead engineer on multiple programs for Boeing products. She was part of the design team for the first FAA-certified (SDA) Precision Landing System installed at many airports worldwide. In her 25+ years at Honeywell, she has gained extensive experience with Air Data Inertial Reference Units (ADIRUs), navigation systems for commercial aircraft which integrate data from GPS, inertial sensors, and air pressure inputs, and for which she received the Honeywell Technical Achievement Award. Outside work, Kristine enjoys time with family, leading a small group Bible study, reading, cooking, moderating several science-faith groups on social media, volunteering in her community, and exercising. She is also a professional face painter.
