Timestamps: [02:40] How Gabi got into podcasting and coaching [05:45] How different parts of the body store various emotional experiences [14:02] Gabi’s experience in an abusive relationship [20:32] The complex emotions survivors of abuse experience when their abusers die [23:17] How Gabi found her way into podcasting [28:00] The inspiration behind Gabi’s podcast "Resilient Heart" [31:04] The power of sharing your story and releasing shame [41:51] The long-term effects of abusive relationships on children [46:52] The importance of journaling and self-reflection [51:07] Importance of honesty in relationships [52:18] How to connect with Gabi Quotes: Too many of us think our stories don't matter. Our voice doesn't matter. Think that what we say or the connections we can build doesn't matter.I remember praying all the time; I just wanted peace. I just want peace. I just want this to stop. I just want this to not be my life. It's really sad because my story is not unique. There are a lot of women who have children in these types of environments, and it's because they're in environments where they're trying to escape, and there's a temporary safety in that place. It's such a beautiful thing to say, 'I'm so sorry.' Sometimes, we don't think what we did was a big deal, and then we hear it from them and what it did for them or how that made them feel. When we can sit down together and have, like, I'm sorry that I hurt your conversation, then it gives them the urgency to be able to have those conversations in their relationships and with children when they have them someday. We don't do anybody any justice when we lie to them and don't share the truth about who somebody was.
