WORSTStandBobby HumesToday's Scripture: Luke 21:29-38 ESV__________Ephesians 1:17-21that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 1) THE FIGHT IS ON! Luke 21:29-38And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet. And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him. Matthew 25:31-32“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 2) JESUS ALREADY WON! 3) SO STAND! PUT ON YOUR ARMOR Ephesians 6:11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. PUT ON YOUR ARMOR: BELT & BREASTPLATE Ephesians 6:14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Matthew 6:33But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. PUT ON YOUR ARMOR: SHOES FOR YOUR FEET Ephesians 6:15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. John 14:27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 2 Thessalonians 2:15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. PUT ON YOUR ARMOR: SHIELD OF FAITH Ephesians 6:16In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 1 John 5:4For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. PUT ON YOUR ARMOR: HELMET OF SALVATION & SWORD OF THE SPIRIT Ephesians 6:17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, Romans 12:1-2I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
