    Mar 23 2023
At the bank, Jen discovers that her brother left her the key to a car that she never knew he owned. He also left her some odd numbers that she discovers are GPS coordinates for an address in the town of Rockford, Illinois, a place she has never been - but where she and her brother were told that their mother (now deceased) was born. So she decides to take her brother's car and drive to the address. Along the way, she listens to the first of his six recordings, in which he goes into his obsession for certain "Solfeggio" frequencies and their corresponding chakras. Jen thinks this is another manifestation of his madness but she dives in, believing this may help her better understand him and why he took his life. After driving for a day and arriving at the address in Rockford, Jen finds an abandoned house that she believes may have been where her mother was born. She enters the house and finds a dead body. After calling the police, she speaks with a neighbor who knew the home's previous owner, a man named Frank who Jen believes may have in reality been her brother M. But when she continues listening to his voice memo, her brother reveals that he had a twin, Frank, that he never told her about.

Fascinating, engaging, suspenseful

I really liked this podcast story. It reminded me if the radio theater I listened to as a kid in the 1950s. I was drawn in by the progressive reveal if the story as I was pulled along by the mystery and the vivid descriptions if places and people. After I got beyond a few episodes I was totally hooked and binged the last three episodes. The acting and sound engineering was outstanding. Can't wait for more stories from Peter Mattei.

Starts strong, but finishes weak.

The story starts strong, and carries well into about episode four. Then it starts to fall short unfortunately.

Haunting, powerful, poetic

Sonarius is a moving and beautifully told story that explores the inherent mystery of losing someone to suicide. Because the vast majority of suicides happen in private, those who are left behind often piece together a story of what transpired. Sonarius is a sort of piecing-together, but the story that emerges is about much more than a suicide. It's about the ways that grief contracts and expands us, about the ways we know and don't know one another, and about the ways we remain connected to those we love no matter where they are.

Beautifully written

The actors brought it to life. The story itself was intriguing and constantly changing. Loved the way it ended, and I’d definitely listen to more

An engaging thriller. Very well done.

I listened to the entire Sonarius series with a group of friends in one sitting. It was an emotional journey that I highly recommend. Mattei's writing is exceptional, as are the performances by the entire cast, the score by Anton Sanko, and the superb sound design.
