  • HoM: Star Trek Podcast - STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS Series Review
    Feb 16 2025

"I'd like to think I'd be as cool as Mariner, but I'd totally be Boimler."

Grab your padds and set phasers to “meta” as Hit or Miss: Star Trek goes full Lower Decks! Host Captain Mike, First Officer D.K., and returning chaos gremlins Nita and Dag take a season-by-season deep dive into the animated love letter to Trek, breaking down their favourite (and least favourite) episodes, moments, characters, and jokes. But that’s not all—Mike is bringing his own Boimler-esque dedication to statistics, scoring every episode and collecting season ratings from the crew before calculating an overall score for the entire series. Will Lower Decks boldly go to the top of the rankings, or will a few bad-gey episodes hold it back? And because Lower Decks was never afraid to embrace the absurd, expect some delightful chaos along the way—including dramatic readings of “lost” TNG episodes from series creator Mike McMahan’s book Warped. Because if there’s one thing this show taught us, it’s that Star Trek is at its best when it’s unafraid to be a little silly. So hop aboard the Cerritos with us for this epic Lower Decks retrospective—just watch out for giant Spock heads, sentient foot fungus, and impromptu Klingon operas.

  • Silver Screen Podcast - Captain America (1990) Review
    Feb 13 2025

Episode 105 - "You care? Then come to me, my brother. Let us see if this heart of yours is stronger than my hate."

Welcome back, friends and fellow film fanatics. The Silver Screen Podcast (regular flavour) has returned, like a stalwart sentinel of liberty standing true. Hey, remember when the USA used to actually fight against Nazis? Well, we do and we're here to celebrate that history, commemorate the release of the newest MCU movie, and examine the merits of faking an illness so you can steal someone's car. Hey, Cap did it! Twice! Yes, by this point you're either nodding sagely or completely baffled (but hopefully intrigued). Buckle in, take your super soldier serum and prepare to fight Red Skull, that famous... Italian enemy? Hosts Mike and D.K are joined by honorary comic book film correspondent Tobi to review the low-budget curio that is 'Captain America' (the one from 1990). How many stars (and stripes) will this ahem hidden gem of a movie get? Will the score be higher than the budget? Will anyone mention the distractingly weird plastic ears? Strap on your shield and let's dive in...
