  • The Embodiment Coaching Podcast
    Nov 26 2024
    Description: The Embodiment Coaching Podcast

A twice-weekly conversational offering for coaches, embodiment teachers and anyone who sees the body as more than a hunk of meat.

Embodiment Unlimited hosts Mark Walsh, Karin Van Maan and Christina Dohr interview leaders and innovators from embodied disciplines. Mindfulness, trauma therapy, martial arts, meditation, somatics, yoga, and movement practices generally, are all discussed, with educators, academics and experts from around the world. The flavour is usually light-hearted and practical.

    Takeaways:
    • The podcast review emphasizes the importance of knowing your podcast's purpose and audience. They mentioned networking but later said they would judge their success by gaining more business.
    • Audio quality is crucial; a muddy introduction can deter potential listeners significantly. All the pre-recorded spots needed improvement.
    • Networking through podcasting can be as valuable as achieving high download numbers.
    • Hosts should strive for engaging dialogue rather than a formal question-answer format.
    • Clear calls to action are essential for directing listeners to your offerings effectively.
    • Using storytelling effectively can enhance listener engagement during interviews and discussions.
    • We both thought things "picked up about 13 minutes when you got to a topic that inspired a little more passion in the guest, and the conversation became a little more conversational and casual.
    • The courage to talk about some topics that people may shy away from was a positive step. People love opinions, and living of fear of upsetting people is no way to live. There is a name for those people, "Not your target audience."
    • The website would look better with the newer version of the Libsyn player. The follow buttons could be a bit more uniform and update date.
    • The website has a lot of options and was organized in a way that kept some white space. There are a fair number of options for navigation, and you might consider moving some of those to a sub-menu to avoid paralysis by analysis.

  • Steve and Jeff Show reviewed
    Apr 29 2024

The description of the Steve and Jeff show in Apple is, "Comedy, Improvisation, and strange, but cool interviews, are all bundled into one weekly podcast. Steve and Jeff have been friends for more than 50 years, funny since 2022. Enjoy the "Malk Show" (mock talk show) and visit www.steveandjeff.com to find out more.www.steveandjeff.com"

What we Liked About the Show

The type of humour came quickly and let you identify is "this was for you" or not. You kept that style of humor throughout the episode.

The format of conducting mock interviews with quirky, everyday characters played by local improvisers provided a fresh and engaging approach to podcasting, which Dave and Erik found both innovative and entertaining.

The long-standing friendship between Jeff and Steve translated well into their on-air chemistry, making the interactions more natural and enjoyable for listeners.

The premade mock commercials were some of the funniest parts of the show.

What WE Thought Could Be Improved

Erik mentioned that the opening of the show lacks context and structure, which can lead to confusion for new listeners who might not immediately grasp what to expect from the show.

Dave Jackson pointed out that improvements could be made to the podcast's website, especially in providing more descriptive text on the "About Us" page to enhance search engine optimization and accessibility.

Dave pointed out that having the episodes on the website could boost SEO. It allows people to sample the show before following it, and it makes it easier to share an episode.

It was recommended that a tagline or a concise description be used at the beginning of each episode to help clarify the show's content and provide immediate context to new listeners.

Some sketches seemed to drag and could benefit from concise delivery and sharper punchlines to keep the audience engaged and entertained.

Minimizing overly local references (or ensuring they are explained) could help them be more relatable to an international or non-local audience so as not to alienate listeners who might not understand specific regional humor.

incorporate more structured calls to action, both at the beginning and the end of the podcast, possibly in a humorous manner that fits the show’s theme and effectively encourages listener engagement and conversion.

    Episode Feedback
    • Great audio and a great job of talking to one person
    • Great voice over
    • Only one call to action (YAY!)
    • Could boost momentum by having the music fade in before he finishes
    • The intro is a bit redundant
    • Be sure to avoid trying to be everything to everyone
    • The episode was wide open for stories, and there weren't any
    • Give a more specific call to action to get more specific answers

    Website Feedback
    • Add some episodic artwork to break the same picture over and over
    • Update your About Page to show the show's benefits and who Ralph is.
    • A resources page with one resource could be skipped.
    • See if you can adjust the episodes so they aren't quite so tall and skinny, which requires more scrolling to see the site.

    Branding Feedback
    • As you get traction on your Sunday episodes based on faith, lean harder into that respect to make you stand out.
    • Add a tagline to your show to work some of the keywords into the title of your show.
    • Potentially adjust the open voice-over to include your experience.
