Welcome back to another episode of Peace After Combat where Alex sits down with Command Sgt. Major Jerry E. Jacobitz to discuss finding resources in El Paso, Texas and your local community.
Sgt Major entered the Army in October 1992. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon completion of OSUT, he was awarded the Military Occupation Specialty 11B. In June 1997, he reclassified as 14T, Patriot Launcher Advance Operator/Maintainer, at Fort Bliss, Texas. His last assignment was the Command Sergeant Major of 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
His assignments include HHC, 5-87th Infantry Battalion (L), Fort Davis, Panama; B Company, 5-87th INF BN (L), Fort Kobee, Panama; B Battery, 3-43rd ADA BN, Fort Bliss, Texas; D Battery, 6-52nd ADA BN, Shipton Kaserne, Germany; Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; E Battery, 2-43rd ADA BN, Fort Bliss, Texas; HHB, 108th ADA BDE, Fort Bragg, N.C.; 0631 MiTT, Patrol Base Lions Den, Iraq; A Battery, 3-4th ADAR, Fort Bragg, N.C.; HHB, 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas; A Company, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; HHB, 5-5th ADA BN, Fort Lewis, Wash.; and HHB, 31st ADA BDE, Fort Sill, Okla. He is currently serving as the 32d AAMDC Command Sergeant Major. Command Sgt. Major Jacobitz has held every leadership position from Team Leader to First Sergeant, as well as NCO Academy Small Group Leader (Primary Leadership Development Course) and Intelligence and Team NCOIC on an external MiTT in Iraq.
His awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (5), Army Commendation Medal (4), Army Achievement Medal (4), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. His military schools include Infantryman OSUT, Patriot Launcher Advanced Operator/Maintainer AIT, Basic Instructor Course, NBC Officer Course, Air Assault Course, NCO Battle Staff course, PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, and USASMA. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is working on his MBA.
