Please note: This show is for mature audiences only. It contains explicit language, sexual references, and adult themes. Discretion is advised. In 2003, the first ever late-night talk show hosted by a 10-year-old boy premiered live for six minutes, before it was violently pulled from the air and abruptly canceled. Its host, Donnie Dixon, hasn’t been heard from since. Past My Bedtime: An Oral History of the Fastest Failure in Late Night History is journalist Phillip Jackal’s audio documentary following his obsessive quest for the truth about what happened that ill-fated night. Can he finally uncover the truth about Donnie Dixon? Or why the government destroyed all evidence of the broadcast? After chasing this story for almost two decades, it’s finally time for Jackal to tell it. This mockumentary features an all-star cast including David Harbour, Zach Galifianakis, Whoopi Goldberg, Lennon Parham, D’Arcy Carden, Tim Robinson, Jenny Slate, Nick Kroll, Seth Meyers, Sam Richardson, John Early, Kate Berlant, Bob Balaban, Mae Whitman, Claudia O’Doherty, James Austin Johnson, and John Levenstein. Past My Bedtime: An Oral History of the Fastest Failure in Late Night History drags listeners down a satirical rabbit hole using a mix of less-than-reliable interviews, confessionals, and faux archival footage. The truth is out there, and Phillip doesn’t care how many lives he has to ruin to get the answers he wants.

Ridiculously funny. Distressingly plausible.

This show is laugh-out-loud funny. A spot-on performance by David Harbour brings the multi-layered comedy by Leah Beckmann and Max Silvestri to life.

I didn't know what this was when I clicked on it, but it's a find. Listen now and start laughing right away at this dry-as-bone satire on the media.

Best I’ve heard

I used to watch old serial movies with my dad and they were ridiculously hilarious. This reminded me of that. Perfect. On every count. I loved all the tie ins to the early 2000’s culture and how the writers made it their own. Magnificent.

Clever, funny, and well performed.

This is another entry in Audible’s library of really funny and talent filled audio dramas that I don’t hear enough about in pop culture discussion. If you’re a fan of any of these performers, especially Harbour, do yourself a huge favor and give it a listen.

Total game changer for Audible!

I’m so happy that audible has original content like this. This story is SO funny and clever. The writing is incredible and the performances are amazing as well. I loved recognizing different actors as they popped up. It’s SO. DAMN. FUNNY. I have told everyone I know to listen. I hope audible continues to put out great stuff like this. HIGHLY enjoyable.

So entertaining!

I laughed out loud often. The writing is sharp and witty. David Harbour is perfection. His narration of this crazy, “serious” yet hilarious story is superb. Highly recommend if your looking for a good time!

Mocku-funny

The dry, sarcastic and make fun of everyone humor is great. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Very diverting story

I enjoyed this as a diversion from typical story telling. It is well read and engaging throughout. Love the cast and presentation. Would love to see this crew push another story.
