On The Outside

  • Summary

  • We need to talk about the outdoors. Not just the epic stories, but the important news, the big events and the social issues that permeate the whole of the outdoors. On The Outside is for everyone who spends their leisure time outdoors in the UK. It helps you engage in the wider outdoor community through the conversations of our diverse panel. We are enthusiasts and experts from a range of outdoors activities, and we're talking about the news stories that matter to us - from specific sports news, to headline stories about our countryside, and the viral posts that capture outdoors culture - all in a jargon and judgement free way! On The Outside is part of the Tremula Network.

  • AS WE REST: Soraya Abdel-Hadi is Prompted by Nature
    Apr 25 2024

Text us your views -- we'll share some on the next episode

Following on from the last episode on 'interviewing as an ally', this is the first episode in a series of crossovers where we share interviews with some of our previous panellists. This episode comes from a podcast called Prompted by Nature, from the very aptly named Helen Forester. Helen chats to creative people to learn how nature feeds into and inspires there work, and in this episode she speaks to Soraya Abdel-Hadi.

Listeners of On The Outside will know Soraya from episode on horses in sport, climbing topless and Kendal Mountain Festival 2021. She has often spoken from her position as the Founder of All The Elements, a nonprofit community working to increase diversity in the UK outdoors .

But I know Soraya as a writer, creative and artist who draws in nature and draws from nature. This conversation between Helen and Soraya is a lovely insight to that side of her work, and it will resonate with anyone who is likewise, Prompted by Nature.
