In this episode of Little Planet, Manolo and Eva sit down with Emma thesimpleenvironmentalist who is on Instagram and Youtube to where she discusses her zero waste journey and gives tips. Together, we explore waste in different countries as well as public transit. Whether you're interested in ero waste, or simply curious about trash, this episode has something for you. About Our Guest When I was 18, I joined the US Air Force. I wanted to escape my tiny town and I did just that. I lived in West Texas for 9 months during my training and that is really when my eyes were opened to our impact on the planet. See, recycling is not mandatory in Texas. The small city I lived in did not have recycling and I was appalled. So, I started a recycling program in my dorms and personally drove the recycling and sorted it at the city's only recycling drop-off center (it gets shipped elsewhere to actually be used). And that’s not it. I moved halfway across the world to Okinawa, Japan. I miss it every day. But there, I started to learn that recycling alone will not save the planet. I also have to reduce what I consume. I began educating myself on proper recycling, why so much plastic ends up in the ocean (we were in the middle of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and beach garbage was no joke), invisible pollution, and much more. I quickly realized that other people don’t know this stuff and I need to spread the word. • Enviro's Weekly #1
    Jul 11 2023

In today’s episode of Enviro’s Weekly. We each shared 3 environmental news stories from early July that were a surprise to the other one. This episode includes bison and humpback whale population growth, Texas clean power maintaining energy reliability, Joshua tree protection, New York's public transportation becoming more environmentally friendly, and EV sales increasing.

Our mission at Earthwise Learning to Think Green is to give good environmental news and information. We are two youths concerned about our future in this world. But everyone can get overwhelmed by the amount of bad and unfortunate news about climate change that is always coming out. And we noticed that not enough good news is coming out so we decided to take on the challenge. We hope everyone leaves every episode feeling better than they did before.
