Most alarmingly, an FBI whistleblower revealed Patel compromised the rescue of two American hostages held by Iranian-backed militants in Yemen. His reckless actions put lives at risk, making him unfit to lead the FBI.

Patel’s blind loyalty to Trump is a direct threat to democracy. In a chilling interview with Steve Bannon, he vowed a second Trump administration would “come after the people in the media” who “helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections.” This is not the language of a law enforcement professional—it is the rhetoric of an authoritarian enforcer. Patel’s intent to weaponize the FBI against journalists and critics while shielding Trump and his allies is a direct assault on the First Amendment and the rule of law.

Patel’s financial ties further disqualify him. He accepted millions in stock from Shein’s parent company, notorious for child and slave labor and ties to the Chinese Communist Party. He worked as a consultant for the Qatari government without registering as a foreign agent—a serious legal violation. Additionally, Patel has been paid by a Russian filmmaker linked to the Kremlin who promotes anti-Western propaganda. These conflicts of interest alone should bar him from holding any position of power, let alone leading the FBI.

Patel’s nomination is not just a bad choice—it is a dire threat to the rule of law, national security, and American democracy. The FBI needs leadership committed to upholding the Constitution, not a partisan loyalist seeking to settle political scores.
