INNER AVENUE

By: Daisy Burns-O'Keefe
  • Summary

  • INNER AVENUE is a local podcast getting under the skin of creativity and career paths. Why? Because there's not enough real stories from real people in real creative career paths—particularly the ones we've never heard of. This podcast is an effort to cultivate community and a sense of belonging, but also to give people young and old(er) the tools to make informed decisions. It's not about perfection, it's about collaboration and seeing the art in living an authentic life. Our guests aren't professional speakers, and each episode is a step toward a bigger goal than numbers. Join us 🧡

  • Self Love, Soft Living and Channeling Creativity through Sustainable Fashion with Liz Kombaté
    Mar 2 2025

Welcome to or welcome back to Season 03 of the INNER AVENUE podcast ✨

This time we have content creator, sustainable fashion advocate and model Liz Kombaté in the podcast room!

From the moment Liz arrived in a bright yellow coat, coral-coloured scarf and beautiful patterned dress, I knew she'd have insights to share on the art of getting dressed. This conversation was not only about the intentional aspects of sustainable fashion, creating content and being a model, but it also very much delves into the day to day process of creating our reality and way of being authentically (even radically) ourselves.

I hope you love hearing this conversation!

Don't forget to take a peek at Liz's own content here 👀

  • Creative Entrepreneurship, Defining Success, and the Art of Music with Alan Downes
    Feb 23 2025

Welcome to episode 02 of INNER AVENUE!

This week I'm pretty excited to introduce you to someone you will definitely not have heard of, you may not have even heard of his magazine either BUT this guest has been a major player in Southampton's music scene.

From interviewing bands including Coldplay and The Killers, to reviewing music across so many genres, Alan Downes has traveled many an avenue. Throughout the 2000's you would've been likely to find him in or below his office inside The Joiners - I'm going to assume you've heard of it! Here we discuss his most notable adventures with Logo Magazine, how and why you need to think about monetising your creativity, and the deep philosophies from his years in the music industry.

If you're considering the musical avenue, you need to gather the musical history and business lessons in episode 02 🎧🧡

  • Reconnecting with Nature & Nurturing Creativity in Early Years with Buttercups EYC
    Feb 16 2025

Welcome to Season 03, it's finally here 🙌

The very first episode had to be something a bit special, so I sat down with my mum (Kate) and picked her brain on the links between creativity in adulthood and childhood, as well as how we connect the two.

Whether you have children or not, this episode was a fantastic reminder on how getting into nature can spark our natural creativity, sense of place and belonging, and even remind us our femur might turn up unexpectedly on a sandy hill one day long after we've gone!

If you listen to this before Bursfest 14 on Feb 22nd, surpriiiiise, Buttercups Early Years Centre is based right downstairs in Bursledon Village Hall!

Take a look at the Buttercups EYC website (no, I did not do it)
