After retiring from a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, Chief Beckett founded Veterans Produce in 2018. Motivated by a personal encounter with a homeless Vietnam Army veteran, he committed to addressing food insecurity among veterans. Under his leadership, Veterans Produce builds community gardens that provide year-round access to healthy, organic food, while teaching veterans sustainable farming techniques.
