For Wales, See Wales

By: Will Hayward Mel Owens Robin Morgan
  • Summary

  • For Wales, See Wales is a podcast helping you better understand the most wonderful country on earth - Wales.

Each week we shine a light on the utterly bizarre (and often hilarious) world of Welsh politics and issues.

So many people care deeply about Cymru but very little attention is given to it by the wider UK media. This podcast aims to help fill this gap.

Guardian columnist Will Hayward and comedians Mel Owens and Robin Morgan pick apart the political scene in Wales with a combination of journalistic insight and satirical sideswipes.

  • Ep4: Labour's First Budget and Town Centres
    Oct 30 2024

In this episode, the gang look ahead to their predictions for the coming week - specifically Labour's first budget in Westminster and what that will mean for Wales.

Whilst Will is heading to Antigua for the cricket, Mel is going to the Senedd to celebrate Black History Month and Robin is hosting the Recycling Awards where Wales is crowned second best country in the world for recycling.

The three answer listeners' questions on how council cutbacks are affecting town centres across Wales and what the future may look like for the high street.

For Wales, See Wales is a weekly dive into the little known (but fascinating) world of Welsh politics. It is produced by HayMan Media.

  • Ep3: What's the point of the Welsh Conservatives?
    Oct 23 2024

This week the gang deep dive into just why train travel in Wales is so bad. They explore the way that the HS2 project in England is completely shafting Wales out of billions while Cymru continues to languish in second class. Plus there is a surprise appearance from Producer Darryl who has some surprising train knowledge.

Focus then turns to the Welsh Conservatives with Mel breaking the bombshell that she used to work for them! Will then unleashes a (slightly hungover) rant about the state of the Welsh Conservatives who really don’t seem to really want to win power in Wales despite being the opposition.

  • Ep2: “It’s better than doing f*** all”
    Oct 16 2024

In this week's pod Mel, Robin and Will discover the rarest thing in the world - an interesting Senedd committee meeting!

After enjoying the fact that a well respected academic said the Welsh Government was doing “f*** all”, the trio dive into the world of Welsh independence, looking at where the indy movement is in Wales and some of the big holes in the argument for Wales leaving the UK.

They then explore at the recent Plaid Cymru conference with some exclusive interviews with leading politicians to break down exactly what their plans are for Wales (spoiler, we still don’t really know).

Elsewhere Will finally comes to the realisation he has a smug face, Mel admits to having no musical talent despite being half Welsh/half Caribbean and Robin comes out of the closet as indy-curious.
