  • Summary

  • Please note: this series contains adult themes, explicit language and references to child abuse and suicide. Listener discretion is advised.

It started with an anonymous post in 2017. They called themselves 'Q' and left a trail of cryptic messages for an increasing number of followers to obsess over. Over the years, the conspiracy theory became a movement, crashing into mainstream politics and breaking countless families along the way.

Over this investigation, journalist Nicky Woolf dives into the online and offline world of QAnon in his search to find the shadowy figure behind it all and the legacy they've created.

Excellent research and production.

I’ve listened to and read through volumes of information about the Q phenomenon. This one was the best. If you’re curious to learn more and only have time for on resource - this is it.

Outstanding work, thoroughly researched

This excellent work of journalism managed to answer all the questions I had swirling in my head mabout this cult. Nice companion piece to the HBO documentary. The dedication of this journalist to answer difficult questions is remarkable.

Gripping. Thrilling. Haunting

Excellent narrative construction on a down-to-base journalistic investigation. The theme is not novel anymore, but it still reverberate a lot as it might ignite again someday...

great reporting on this specific phenomenon

I love how this investigative reporting offers a contextual narrative of 4chan, then 8chan, anonymous, then Q, then Qanon, ect. this tells me that the story is well researched and well though out. if you are looking for an entertaining podcast that makes you want to listen to the next episode one after another, this one is it!

a few things I dont like about this production:
1. narriator voice is terrable. should have fixed some of the sound elements post production so listeners can hear/understand better. especially for car listening
2. in my humble opinion, the interviewing skills of the reporter, Nicki, is passable but not really good. he doesn't seem to build a good rapport with his subjects and could have been more efficient in extracting information.

Esther was wonderful btw and I hope we can have a podcast with her natriating in the future. wonderful accent!

welcome to the asylum

I can't wait until this entire thing goes into the Dustbin of History. Donald Trump, Q Anon all the crazy is fascinating but completely destructive and toxic. there were times when the narrator seemed as crazy as his subject in his single-mindedness to uncover the identity. of the notorious Q. interesting to listen to all of this but it does not bring out the best in US to say the least

Preferred to HBO’s “Into the Storm”

Rather enjoyed this. Good pacing, good interviews, kept my attention. Narrator Nikki Woolf’s “warts and all” approach to this topic, which often includes some sardonic self-reflection, was pitch perfect for me. Worth a try if you are interested in the cultural phenom of the QAnon Cult.
