Story Worth Telling Told Well
Wow- I’m blown away by this story. It had me hooked from start to finish. I’m left so inspired by Stephanie’s willingness to choose empathy even where it is not necessarily deserved, if only because it’s what’s best for her son- in her words to tell another story. And this story was told and produced so well and delicately- Best audio journalism I’ve heard in a while!

Surprising
I had listened to part I and almost did not listen to this one because I felt I knew enough about the situation. Boy was I wrong! This is a story about human weakness and forgiveness; about accepting each other including our faults; about the stigma of mental illness and how that limits our ability to deal with it.

Loved this follow up piece!
The first Donor series stayed with me for a long time and having this second one felt like closure. Not necessarily a redemption story, more a change in perspective, it is a good reminder that life is full of gray. Great listen, smart writing, love the flow and the narration is excellent. Listen to the first one first.

Just gets better and better…absolutely fascinating!
This is a mind-boggling story, beautifully told. The longer it goes on, the more nuanced and interesting it gets. I found myself reflecting even more than the first season on the implications for my own parenting. (You must listen to the first season first btw.) And every time I found myself getting upset, the narrator (Dov Fox) seems to jump in and ask my exact question in a far more compassionate way. He’s very good. Fingers crossed, there will be a season 3, and 4, and 5.

Excellent!
This was a fascinating story. Excellent research, writing, narration. Really gripping human drama where you get more and more understanding of these people and their experiences. It’s like a fascinating mystery that makes you continue to ponder and change your perspective. I came to feel so much compassion for everyone involved (well, not for the donation company obviously). It made me cry.

Well done
Carefully and thoughtfully presented. All of us are flawed. That we could all have Stephanie’s gift of forgiveness and grace would be a better world!

Redemption is possible
Dov Fox is a masterful storyteller. He is not afraid to ask the hard questions and cross important boundaries especially in understanding mental health. There is no way you can not be upset about what Donor 9623 did by not sharing his fully true self to prospective moms that would choose him. Yet, the time had come for at least one mother to explore the man she picked as her son’s donor. Would she allow her son to meet Donor 9623? Go listen to find out. You may be very surprised how this turns out. I certainly was …

Captivating human story
Amazing story shedding light on mental illness and its repercussions. Story of true human connections beyond paparazzi version of events. I was so glad to see both sides of this story, especially Chris. I hope his life gets easier as the years go on.
