Earth Ancients

By: Cliff Dunning
  • Summary

  • Earth Ancients chronicles the growing (and often suppressed) evidence of known and unknown civilizations, their ruined cities, and artifacts developed from advanced science and technology. Erased from the pages of time, these cultures discovered and charted the heavens, developed earth-centric sciences and unleashed advancements that parallel and, in many cases, surpass our own. Join us and discover our lost history.

  • Destiny: P.D. Newman, The Afterlife Journey in Native American Mound Cultures
    Mar 5 2025
Exploring psychedelic spiritual practices and afterlife beliefs among the Mississippi mound cultures

    • Examines the Path of Souls or Trail of Ghosts, a Native American model for the after-death journey

    • Demonstrates how psychoactive plants were used to evoke the liminal state between life and death in initiatory rites and spirit journeys

    • Explores the symbology of the large earthwork mounds erected by the Indigenous people of the Mississippi Valley and how they connect to the Path of Souls

The use of hallucinogenic substances like peyote and desert tobacco has long played a significant role in the spiritual practices and traditions of Native Americans. While the majority of those practices are well documented, the relationship between entheogens and Native Americans of the Southeast has gone largely unexplored.

Examining the role of psychoactive plants in afterlife traditions, sacred rituals, and spirit journeying by shamans of the Mississippian mound cultures, P. D. Newman explores in depth the Native American death journey known as the "Trail of Ghosts" or "Path of Souls." He demonstrates how practices such as fasting and trancework when used with psychedelic plants like jimsonweed, black nightshade, morning glory, and amanita and psilocybin mushrooms could evoke the liminal state between life and death in initiatory rites and spirit journeys for shamans and chiefs. He explores the earthwork and platform mounds built by Indigenous cultures of the Mississippi Valley, showing how they quite likely served as early models for the Path of Souls. He also explores similarities between the Ghost Trail afterlife journey and the well-known Egyptian and Tibetan Books of the Dead.

    P. D. Newman has been immersed in the study and practice of shamanism, alchemy, hermetism, and theurgy for more than two decades. The author of Theurgy—Theory and Practice: The Mysteries of the Ascent to the Divine, Angels in Vermilion: The Philosophers’ Stone from Dee to DMT, and Alchemically Stoned: The Psychedelic Secret of Freemasonry, he lives in Tupelo, Mississippi, with his wife, Rebecca, and his youngest son, Bacchus.

  • Mark Carlotto: The Underwater Ruins of Cuba
    Mar 1 2025
    The Cuban Underwater Formations

During an exploration and survey mission off the west coast of Cuba in 2001, unusual stone structures were detected in sonar imagery at depths ranging from 600 to 750 meters. The discovery was announced by Pauline Zalitzki, a marine engineer, and her husband Paul Weinzweig, who led the mission under the auspices of the Cuban government. Widely reported at the time by the popular press, the discovery has since become a topic of some speculation due to what seemed to be the lack of any follow-up investigation.More than a decade later, a scientific report was published by the expedition’s lead scientist, Manuel A. Iturralde-Vinent, in which he states:At depths between 600 and 750 metres below sea level, EXPLORAMAR researchers found a set of unusual structures that they called MEGA. Since the discovery was revealed to the press, various opinions have been raised about its origin, which have captured the popular imagination. There has been talk of a “submerged city”, the remains of “Atlantis”, a Mayan settlement, among other similar ideas.

    Dr. Mark Carlotto
What if ancient sites such as Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, the Acropolis, and Temple Mount are not only thousands of years old but much older? Until recently, a lack of hard evidence has led mainstream archaeologists to dismiss theories of past civilizations as pseudoscientific attempts to resurrect ancient myths and legends. However, new archaeological discoveries are beginning to challenge conventional explanations.Inspired by Charles Hapgood’s hypothesis that the ice ages were the result of shifts in the geographic location of Earth’s poles, independent researcher and author Mark Carlotto has discovered that numerous sites throughout the world are aligned to what appear to have been four previous positions of the North Pole over the past 100,000 years.

By virtue of their alignment to ancient poles, Carlotto proposes a new hypothesis: that the original sites were first established by a previous advanced technological civilization that existed throughout the world tens of thousands of years ago and later co-opted by our ancestors who rebuilt and expanded over and around the older structures while preserving the layout and orientation of the site to the original pole. Before Atlantis considers the possibility that this previous technological civilization could have developed from an earlier migration of modern humans out of Africa, which later might have co-existed with our primitive hunter-gatherer ancestors, and that past encounters with this older civilization were the source of ancient myths and legends of powerful gods, lost continents, and even Atlantis.

Mark Carlotto is an aerospace engineer with over thirty years of experience in satellite imaging, remote sensing, image processing, and pattern recognition. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1981 and has published numerous technical articles and books. Dr. Carlotto contributed extensively to the investigation of the Face and other structures in the Cydonia region of Mars, analyzed anomalous objects in STS-48 and STS-80 space shuttle videos, and participated in a recent study of unusual surface features on the far side of the Moon. In his latest book, Before Atlantis, Mark Carlotto draws from his unique background and experience to propose new answers to basic questions concerning human origins, ancient technology, and archaeological enigmas.
