• Episode 85 - Dune Awakening, Will It Change Survival Games Forever?

Let us know your thoughts on the latest news

    Good Morning CoinDroppers!

Today we've got a mix of news for you to include some struggles for Sony, the potential death rattle of Bioware, and some talk about Dune Awakening the survival game that might finally push the genre forward. But before we jump in, don't forget to head over to our Facebook page, give us a follow and vote for what game we play on the 22nd during our Community Interaction Stream.

    Sony Woes

Sony hasn't had a great few weeks. Between the broken launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's AND Spider-Man 2's PC launch they're not in a great graces with the PC crowd. They also recently decided to remove the PSN requirement for PC players which doesn't make any sense to Tim or I. Sony also has a pirate issue on PC and in my opinion it may be self inflicted.

    The Death Rattle of Bioware?

Bioware has been gutted in the wake of the total failure that was Dragon Age Veilguard. It seems like pretty much everyone who touched that game has been let go. While that sounds bad it might have a small glimmer of light. Reportedly, what's left of Bioware is all "laser focused" on the next Mass Effect and the team is comprised of a small number of veterans from the previous games. This sounds good but we'll have to wait and see what they show whenever that happens. In my opinion, don't hold your breath...

    Dune Awakening

Dune awakening is shaping up to be the best version of the survival game genre. Funcom is dedicated to "Making the game fit Dune not Dune fit the game" and that statement alone makes it clear they aren't fucking around. Tim and I talk a bit about a recent article from PC gamer discussing the first 7 hours of gameplay. In addition to this we discuss the difficulty of being interested in a game and wanting to know more but not wanting to know more so you can go in blind and experience the game without expectations.

  • Episode 84 - They want HOW MUCH for new games?!
    Jan 29 2025

Let us know your thoughts on the latest news

    Good Morning CoinDroppers!

We're coming at you with another three man podcast today with Tim and Mike both joining me on the show. Get ready for some chaos! Today we're talking about some of the best news from Microsoft in recent memory, the return of a beloved physics engine that dominated the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, and analysts say new games should cost HOW MUCH?! All this and more so kick back and enjoy the show.

Xbox Developer Direct: Ninja Gaiden 4 & 2 Black Remaster

Xbox recently held a Developer Direct where they announced Ninja Gaiden 4 and a Remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black that is available now! Xbox has announced a new approach to funding games by not requiring that they only release on Xbox. This is good news for the industry because it means more games which is always good and with Ninja Gaiden 4 in the works SOLEY because of Microsoft funding I'd say this is the best decision they've made in two generations of hardware.

The Return of the HAVOK Physics Engine

In the PS3 and Xbox 360 days HAVOK was the go to engine for a vast majority of games. It's real world destruction physics made games like Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2 a possibility along with a laundry list of other games. While other engines have come and been able to achieve most of what HAVOK once could they've returned to show their newest tech demo of their amazing engine as a plugin for UE5. I'm stoked and cannot wait to see this amazing engine back at work in games in the future.

They want HOW MUCH for New Games?!

A recent report suggests that analysts think games are too cheap. Far to cheap and it's insane how much they feel new games would cost. Hear our conversation and our thoughts on the topic. If they have their way gaming will become a luxury only the wealthy could afford. (bit of hyperbole)

    Jan 22 2025

Let us know your thoughts on the latest news

    Good Morning CoinDroppers!

Today we're talking about two new upcoming indie games from industry veterans. It's great to see that even in the face of all the layoffs in the industry these vets aren't leaving they're making news studios and amazing new IPs. Also we're going to discuss two highly opposing views on the Switch 2 Announcement. Hope you enjoy the show

    Forest Reigns

A new and upcoming FPS from GSC Games World veterans, Forest Reigns is an interesting new RPG set in a post TREE-pocolypse Paris. It's definitely a unique take on the end of the world and we're excited to learn more about it.

    The Blood of Dawnwalker

Our second topic for much like our first is a brand new IP but this time from veterans of The Witcher. Rebel Wolves, the new studio behind this amazingly enticing Open world RPG cut their teeth in one of the most beloved RPGs of all time and I cannot wait to see more about Dawnwalker. Thank you for making Vamps awesome again!

    The Switch 2 Reveal

Well the Switch 2 was finally revealed and Tim and I have VASTLY different impressions from this reveal video. But I'm more curious as to what your thoughts are, Why don't you let us know in the comments what you think of the reveal?

Nothing huge or earth shattering but make sure you don't skip the catch up at the beginning of the cast if you want to be in the loop!

    Assassin's Creed Shadows

Delayed again, this time only to March. We talk about what Ubisoft has changed and how this game MIGHT have a shot at redeeming Ubisoft. If it's another miss that could spell the end for Ubisoft as a third party publisher. Time will tell and we'll keep you posted!

Nvidia showed off their 50 series cards and made some bold claims. In addition to this they showed a suit of new AI tech that could change gaming forever. Here's the deets.

  • Episode 79 - Don't Sleep on Eternal Strands
    Dec 11 2024

Let us know your thoughts on the latest news

    Good Morning CoinDroppers!
Today we're talking about some new AMD Rumors coming right of the heels of our coverage on the Nvidia RTX 5090 leaks, some new information about the development of Eternal Strands, and a new game from the creators of the first Battle Royal Game, PubG.

    AMDs RX 8800 XT Rumors

Word on the street is AMDs next card may be an absolute beast of a GPU and "potentially" significantly cheaper than the upcoming RTX 5090. Rumor mills are bosting up to a 45% increase in ray tracing performance over AMDs last gen RX 7800XTX. If they can pack that kinda performance into a sub $999 I'll be pretty damn impressed.

    Eternal Strands

Eternal Strands announces a team up with the legendary developer behind Final Fantasy XIV and XVI Yoshi P. What the nature of this partnership is and how involved Yoshi P is with Eternal Strands seems intentionally vague but Yellow Brick Games is no stranger to industry veterans as they have multiple vets from the Dragon Age franchise on their team. I personally am looking forward to Eternal Strands release early next year.

    Player Unknowns Prologue

The Devs behind the worlds first Battle Royal standalone game are working on a new upcoming survival game that will test and hone features they aim to implement in their Magnum Opus Project Artemis. Will this survival game be any good or will it be a flop? It's hard to tell right now but we'll keep an eye on it.

    Dec 4 2024

Let us know your thoughts on the latest news

    Good Morning CoinDroppers

Today we're talking about the upcoming new flagship GPU from Nvidia the RTX 5090, Elon Musk's statement about wanting to make an AI game studio, and a new game that looks like it might just be an AI disaster. Hope you enjoy the episode!

    Nvidia RTX5090 Leak

Nvidia is all set to announce their latest flagship GPU at CES in just over a month but some big leaks came out about it ahead of time. Namely the reported price and some specs such as ram type and specifically how much of it. Will it really be worth the proposed price though?

    Elon Musk's AI Game Studio

This one is a bit more obscure but recently Elon Musk said he'd like to open a gaming studio that uses AI to "Make Games Great Again" What that means who knows. Will he actually do it? Again, who knows but we're going to talk about it!

    Paradise The Game

A new game was recently demoed and it strikes a weird chord with the feeling we got from the failed FNtastic game The Day Before. Though this game does have one unique hook it uses the same tech a modder used in Skyrim to actually have REAL conversations with NPCs. Is this the next big breakthrough in video games? Our guess is probably not from this developer but who knows.
