Ben and Trev have been making a fair few adventure games recently (check out bslinger.itch.io for the games) so they thought it was about time that they return to the Adventure Game Design Done Quick format, but as this show is now a 30ish minute format they had to change it to QuickeR (Hence the extra R). They design a game set on an island and discuss an article that Ron Gilbert wrote many many years ago.

Ron Gilbert - Why Adventure Games Suck

After a brief pitch from Ben, he and Trevor move on to some movie prompts to create games such as:

• A team of stage magicians pull of heists in a world where actual magic exists
• Serial killers try to blend in in 1980's Miami
• A deductathon where you are researching people with super powers to help them avoid the fascist government
• and more!

Bored of regular click pitch, Ben and Trev delve back into random movies to find the next hit video game tie in. Movies discussed included:

• Fool's Gold
• Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties
• Hellraiser: Bloodlines
• Fant4stic

Ben and Trevor jump headfirst into Ramped Up Click Pitch, taking random phrases and pitching video games such as:

• an animal husbandry game about chicken bombs
• an Obra Dinn/Roottrees style game about an attorney working for a university
• a game about memories and how perception changes over time
• an astronaut travels at light speed and misses his life back home for a stupid reason
• and more!

In our annual pre Global Game Jam episode Ben and Trev discuss different games that match the theme, "Bubble". The games include

• Warp bubbles
• A boy in a sensory deprivation bubble
• Bubble based technology
• Bubble jet printers

This week on Bit Storm, Ben and Trevor take some random movies and re-imagine them as video games, such as:

Fireproof as an action disaster movie where you play a firefighter staving off the end of the world;

Rebecca as a post-apocalyptic noir mystery about an elite member of society and his new wife;

Freaky as a body-swap movie between a pregnant women and her dead-beat boyfriend;

and more!

Ben and Trev tried to do something different, but it didn't work, so they just recorded a standard episode. The games discussed were.

• A game where you play the middle manager of a space elevator
• A game set in the south pole at a secret facility
• A game set in a morning tv show, heavily based off of Get Krackin.

Ben and Trevor make their way into the new year with some ramped up Click Pitch, inventing video games such as:

• showing up un-costumed to a costume party and having to steal your costume
• the drug-fueled Batman fantasy of an octogenarian
• a time-travel fueled weight loss solution
• and more!
