  • Summary

  • Ever since I can remember, I’ve HATED the idea of living an average life. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted in life….and I tried just about everything. Finally after trying my hand at college, and private university, having over 20 different occupations before my mid twenties, and being self employed multiple times, I realized the traditional path was not for me. I’ve spent almost every day of the last 6 years studying what makes successful people different from everyone else. I wanted to know why 95%+ of people don’t achieve their goals and dreams and 5% or less live extraordinary lives. And now I’m on a quest to apply everything I’ve learned so far to achieve total Financial Freedom for myself and my family - to live a life of complete time and money freedom. One where we have more “get to” do’s than “have to” do’s. Follow me on this journey as I share my latest nuggets, wins, losses, and lessons I’ve learned along the way. Episodes are released weekly and I’ll be covering topics touching on Personal Growth, Mindset, Businesses, Finance, Marketing, Leadership, Sales, Effective Communication, Productivity Tips, and Inspirational Stories to fuel your Motivation in your personal journey towards your goals. So hit subscribe, and get ready to change your life. Want access to additional resources? Visit https://www.fivepercentradio.com/

🎙 What if I told you the worst excuse in the world is the one you sell to yourself?

Welcome to 5% Radio, where we dive deep into the mindset of success, the inevitability of failure, and the lessons hidden in the pressure of losing. In today’s episode, we’re unpacking why winners actually lose more than losers, how to harness failure as fuel, and why change is inevitable but growth is optional.

We kick things off with an inspiring story from Chicken Soup for the Soul about Monty Roberts—the kid who refused to give up his dream, even when his teacher slapped an F on his future. From there, we explore the raw, often uncomfortable truths about losing:

🔥 Segment 1: The Pressure of Losing – How setbacks either break you or build you.
🔥 Segment 2: Why Winners Lose More – The difference between running from failure and learning from it.
🔥 Segment 3: The Loser’s Choice – When the heat’s on, do you quit or lean in?
🔥 Segment 4: Change is Circumstantial, Growth is Optional – Life changes, but you decide if you grow.
🔥 Segment 5: Turning Losses into Wins – Why keeping score matters and how your mindset shapes your outcomes.

We’ll talk about the hard stuff—the excuses you tell yourself, the temptation to quit when things get tough, and how consistency, not comfort, builds character. You’ll hear quotes from thinkers like Orrin Woodward, Chris Brady, and Thomas Edison, and learn why embracing losses is the only real way to win in the long game.

    🔑 Key Takeaway:
“If you’re not willing to lose short-term, you’re choosing to lose long-term.”

“When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.

I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town, and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.”
