Publisher's summary

When the USS McClusky (FFG-41) was overrun by the dead, Machinist Mate First Class Jackson Creed, and Marine Sergeant Joel "Cruze" Kelly, were forced to abandon the ship and take their chances in San Diego.

Now they are stuck in a city that has been completely overrun with zombies, and as the days go by, they must range farther and farther away from "fortress" in their search for supplies.

Relying on military training, guts, and pure force of will, the two of them will face a nightmare world that is intent on killing them one bite at a time.

Love this series

The story grows and improves with the characters leading the way. Lots of survivalist lessons buried in the plot. Talented narrator with many voices.

Generic zombie story

Would you try another book from Timothy W. Long and/or Todd Menesses?

This story read like a paint by numbers zombie tale. Stock situations, lazy tactics and hallow characters who seamed to survive purely out of luck. It didn't add anything new to the Zombie Genre.

The "voice" actor could not seem to make up his mind about what the different characters should sound like. At times, it was hard to tell who was speaking.

Has Z-Risen: Outbreak turned you off from other books in this genre?

yes. It was very lazy.

Would you be willing to try another one of Todd Menesses’s performances?

Absolutely not.

Did Z-Risen: Outbreak inspire you to do anything?

Return the book and forget i read it.

Z-Risen: Books 1 & 2. . . Rises to the Occasion!

So good! Lots of Zombie action, relatable characters, witty humor, and (love when this happens) action-packed right out of the gate!

The ending was incredible, and just when I thought it could not get anymore exciting. . . SURPRISE!

Highly recommend! On a side note, it is so nice get 2-3 books on several volumes of this series. #Bonus!

Great start to an epic zombie series

I enjoy zombie books. Each is different but they all share one common theme. Zombies. I enjoy the story telling and getting to know the characters. These two books are off to a great start. Enjoy.

Very realistic portrayal of the Zombie Apocalypse.

Short and Sweet: I liked the books.

More details: The books are supposed to be written in a diary or journal format but the fact that there are conversations between characters kind of takes away from that, add in the log of their supplies at the beginning of the chapter and it gives more of the feeling log files you would find in a video game do where you find other survivors journal entries as you go. It's written in a way that reminds me of both classic radio plays where they could do a chapter a night or late 90s Monster Vision movies on TNT. The books aren't for everyone, some of the jokes will hit or miss based on how much you know about the different branches of the military or if you're offended by humor from the early 2000's to early 2010's. This is one of the few zombie series I've come across that isn't full of political connotations which I greatly appreciated. Plenty of action scenes that are much more realistic than most in the genre as well, Not everyone is a crack shot sniper super soldier in real life. The characters could use a little more depth but you can only do so much with 400 or so pages. Lastly I want to say that the narrator does a fantastic job of bringing the books to life and really giving it that gritty 80s - 90s zombie action movie feel.

predictable

to the author anyway your stories are as predictable as a B Movie if you get a helicopter it's going to crash, if you board a train it'll somehow get down a dirt road you know what I'm saying. also a lot of your fax need to be straightened out first of all Mossberg is the ramen noodles of the gun world. also when you shoot someone they do not snap back unless you're close then very little. when you shoot someone it's like you turned off a switch and they just fall. now a shotgun up close will give you a kick but just the same as it kicks your shoulder. it's called inertia a fellow by the name of Newton came up with that you might be familiar with the Apple but not the fact that he invented calculus. and his best buddy was a rich guy named Haley, but I digress I'm getting my money back on this one. couldn't finish it I mean even listening you know it's an audiobook for the love of God and still couldn't finish it.
one more thing I could have mentioned another things you just got wrong. I didn't look at the date maybe this was published before Google and your lazy ass didn't have any other way to fact check. lol

Please STOP with undead central!!

First time I have ever reviewed a book...why you ask now? Because they must stop with the undead central every 5-10 mins in the story...please!! Over all a decent story but it's so annoying when the narrator says his location in book 2 and ends with those stupid words!! Seriously you lose about 15 minutes or more of the book just to those stupid words over and over and over and over again!!!! However, I did just get the next two books to find out what happens. Now I'm really hoping they go to a different location then undead central!
