Straight-talking, best-selling Pitbull of Parenting Larry Winget says "This is not a fix your kid book. It's a fix the way you parent book. You owe it to your kids to parent with a plan!"

Being a parent is the toughest job in the world, especially with the increasing number of negative influences and pitfalls facing our kids today, from childhood obesity and out-of-control celebrity culture to the dangers of the internet and credit card debt. Larry Winget has never been one to shy away from tough truths, and what he says here may well be difficult for some parents to swallow: we are in the midst of a crisis with our kids. Kids today are over-indulged, over-entertained, under-achieving, and under-disciplined, with a sense of entitlement that is crippling society. And the real problem is that parents aren't paying attention to what's going on. If they were they would realize that most kids today barely read and write, except with their thumbs on their cell phones!

Well-behaved, respectful kids are the exception, not the rule, and for the most part, parents are to blame. Responsible parenting is about beginning with the end in mind and parenting with a plan. But most parents have never stopped to consider what kind of adult they want to raise. They have all this fun creating a baby, but they don't have a plan for the end product. Larry's message to parents: Teach your kids to become the best adults they can be. But don't expect your kids to improve until you improve.

Your Kids Are Your Own Fault covers familiar lessons and principles that have led Larry's readers to greater success with money, career, and goal setting, this time at a level where they can be taught to children. This book shows parents how to design the adult they want their kid to become and work backwards to make sure it happens. Kids don't come with an instruction manual, but finally being a parent does!

How-to Raise a Responsible Adult

This is how I was raised. Obviously there are some things I wish my parents could've done different but for the most part, my parents raised me in a similar fashion. I appreciate this books honesty and the author is down to earth. It's definitely a hard book to listen to if you aren't prepared for some real truths. For me it's just an affirmation that the way I am doing things is probably the most efficient way!

Honest, true and real!

I would and I did. If you got kids, want kids, then you need to hear it.

What other book might you compare Your Kids Are Your Own Fault to and why?

His other books

Which scene was your favorite?

I really like the real stories he tells. It is real information and not some practical book.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Better ways to understand and communicate with your kids.

Any additional comments?

I really like the feedback he used from his face book audience. I give it a 5 star, but then again I like all his books.

In your face Truth.

I'm a very big fan of Larry Winget and his message. I've read and listened to several of his books, which are also great. He's a no BS, no excuses, take personal responsibility for the problems in your life kind of guy. He's also not politically correct, which I absolutely love and appreciate, considering how our society is. I highly recommend this or any of his other books, very informative and entertaining.

Great advice!

Larry Winget does a very good job in pointing out a lot of the "issues" that parents face in trying to raise the current generation of kids.

If you're past the 35 years of age mark, then you'll get a lot of what the author is talking about and how so much of all of that is missing in today's parenting and the youth of today.

If you're under 35... forget it!!! Unless you're willing to really take the time to understand a time when "the rod wasn't spared" or "children are meant to be seen and not heard", or having the "mixing of church and State in politics, education and every strata of society", then you'll understand what the author points out that so much what's missing in today's child rearing, are the good old fashioned values that used to be in society.

I spend a great deal of time traveling internationally, and I can really see a real life comparison of societies that still respect their elders and parents, and where we're headed here in America and throughout the Western world.

Author Larry Winget points all of this out and more in a humorous and straight forward approach that makes reading this book fun and enjoyable... yet, very informative.

Good reading and highly recommended for all!

What made the experience of listening to Your Kids Are Your Own Fault the most enjoyable?
Loved this book, it proves what I have been saying all along...if you talk to your kids, they will listen. And yes, the way your kids turn out, really is YOUR fault. If you don't provide what your children need, they will find it elsewhere and it may be different than what you want. Who else do they have to learn from during their first few years of life?

So True!!!

Larry does it again!
He uses his straight to the point personality to focus the problem where it belongs, on the parents. As parents we need to wake up and take care of our kids - bravo Larry. I am listening a second time too.

Too the POINT! (a must read for ALL parents.)
