Publisher's summary

The USA Today best-selling authors Terri E. Laine and A.M. Hargrove, who brought you Cruel & Beautiful, bring you a new emotionally charged stand-alone contemporary romance. This is a spin-off of the Wilde Players dirty romance series.

Andi:

He was my best friend since we were little. Even though he was off-limits, as we grew up, he became my forever, my everything. But I couldn’t let my selfish dreams hold him back. They say that if you love someone, you should let them go. I did. He became the world’s greatest soccer player. Money. Fame. Beautiful women. He had it all. One thing I never expected was for him to walk back into my life again.

Chase:

She was perfect for me in every way. Once we kissed that first time, there was no turning back. But I made a mistake by letting her go. My need for her has only grown. After three long years, I’ve decided to get her back. Only I’m too late. Someone has taken my place. I don’t know if I still love her or if I should hate her. One thing is certain. She is and always has been mine.

Emotional, and Steamy Second Chance Romance!

omg, what an emotional, and steamy second chance romance! Chase and Andi have been friends since they were kids. They started a secret relationship, not wanting their families to keep them apart if they knew. When Chase has an offer to play soccer professionally out of the country, Andi stays back to finish college. But as time passes, Andi wants to be independant and they soon lose touch. But finally Chase returns to claim the only woman he has loved, only to get blindsided. I really loved Chase and Andi, even when I didn't agree with their decisions and actions, and the depth and strength of their love for each other. There are some very emotional twists to this story that are heartbreaking and had me totally captivated. Narrators Savannah Peachwood, and Chris Chappell are amazing. They are a perfect team, allowing me to feel every emotion and to be totally immersed in this world.

Another great book by these authors

So, this book was great! the beginning was frustrating. It starts off with the two characters falling in love, and then going their separate ways, only for the male character to go and try to rekindle their relationship. He sees her with a man and kids and thinks she has a family then just walks away. They then just happen upon each other, and a big secret comes out resulting in him treating her like shit. Neither one of them wants to admit they still love each other so there’s a lot of hate, sadness, and longing going on. This book does a great job in getting the reader to feel what the characters are feeling and the big secret was impossible to guess until like three pages before it actually said what it was, most things I can guess right away, but this had me surprised. The narrations were amazing as well. Savannah Peachwood has a very similar voice to Bailey Carr (another narrator) and I was very confused with the similarities until I realized they were two different people, so if it sounds familiar to you, that’s probably why.

Good but not great

This was good story but not great. I didn’t care for the heroine. She made decisions that was based on what she thought was right. I didn’t like that she did not stand up for herself. She allows Chase to make choices based on his needs and wants. She was a heroine that I avoid reading. I love strong, sassy and smart woman. She was not any of that.

Far Fetched but entertaining story

So a lot of this is very unrealistic.

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read if you do not want to see spoilers from the book.

so they allegedly have a teenage forbidden romance. yet no one knows. however, later on, both moms admit to knowing they kept looking at one another and sneaking off.

and who has a kid without telling your family for 2ź3 years??? and what kid (aged 2-3) recognizes multiple people from just a photo ... no phone calls or video calls. not many. at least not enough to run up excited to meet them. heck even when they are excited about Santa most freak out when they go to meet him.

on top of all of that, the perfectly healthy kid SUDDENLY becomes ill right after both families are suddenly in their life???

the story is cute.... but so many details that are just very unrealistic. could it happen? sure. but it's a stretch.

over all, inspite of the cheese factor, I did enjoy the story. I would not pay full price for the book/audio though.

Satisfying at times!!

I've listened to several awesome books by these authors which is why I selected this book. The first few chapters really held my interest and it became harder but I finished!! I'm a diehard audible listener and have many, many books in my library. I also like to try new authors and narrators. Savannah I like and Chris Chappell is new to me but I'm liking him. I probably rated this book higher because of the authors and narrators. I struggled with the story though. But that's just me.

Love, Love, Loved It!!❤️

I absolutely love this Author! This book is very relatable to me and my Hubby of 30yrs. that I cried for her when she thought she was doing him a favor by not putting herself and her dreams first and not take him away from his. I literally lived these actual events but my hubby was a “Football” player 😂 I seriously laughed my ass off when he got his butt handed to him at a sports bar for the semantics of soccer to football. I can’t wait for your next book.. let’s just say that a month ago I took a chance and read 1 book to see if I’d like something new from a different Author, and I literally bought all her books and went thru all of them!!!❤️

A must listen to companion to the book

Omg!! This is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s a story of second chances and best friends turned to lovers.

Andi has been keeping a secret from chase for a while. Chase seems andi out and finds out. Needless to say, he is upset. He wants things that Andi is having a hard time giving him. They work everything out and find love on the other side.

I highly recommend this book in
Audio and in eReader or paperback. This book makes your heart swell and feel so happy. They have tough and scary times, but it shows you just have to stick together and support one another no matter what. This is a 10 star read/audiobook for me!! You will love it!!

Disappointed

I liked the story but I decided to move on. The narration just ruined the book for me. ITs strictly my opinion but I am not a fan of Savannah Peachwood because her male voice always sounds like an old man and Chris Chappell was more like he was 'reading' than narrating. Narrators can make or break a book for me!
