Publisher's summary

In a realm where wizards rule, the ambitious contend for thrones that grant the power of a god. How can one defeat a god?

Jerrell Landish is a thief, clever, creative, and conniving to the extreme. His legendary exploits force him to use the name Jace just to remain inconspicuous. When he accepts a contract to acquire a secret, enchanted amulet, he discovers the item has already been stolen. To satisfy the leader of the Thieves' Guild, he must track down the amulet and complete the ultimate objective:

Assassinate Wizard Lord Taladain, a man with the power of a god.

Rhoa is an acrobat, diminutive, agile, and daring. Armed with the Eye of Obscurance, she sets out to accomplish the unthinkable. Haunted by a troubled past, she cannot escape a single, all-consuming desire.

She would risk anything to see Lord Taladain dead.

Taladain's daughter, Narine, is a princess who recently graduated as a master wizardess. However, her father and brother seek nothing but power - one would use her to strengthen his position, the other views her as a threat to his future.

Can she navigate troubled waters with danger lurking at every turn?

Eye of Obscurance is the first entry in Fate of Wizardoms, a fantasy epic filled with magic, adventure, and intrigue, perfect for fans of Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, and Michael J. Sullivan.

Great start for a fun series to enjoy

I enjoyed listening to this book, it really draws you in with the wording. This book was such a great adventure to read, and when it ended you wanted to see more.

It is a great start to a series.

Narrator does a great job on voices, even down to making age appropriate voices.

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Great Fantasy addition

I received this listen in exchange for an honest review. This is a good start on what could develop into a fine fantasy adventure. The characters are believable and has a mixture of action and intrigue. Well worth the listen.

GOOD READ, LOOKS TO BE A GOOD SERIES

Eye of Obscurance (Fate of Wizardoms #1). my sixth read from author Jeffrey L. Kohanek. Well-written with intricately developed characters you can invest heavily in and the storyline with its intricate twists & surprises as the tension & suspense ratchets up throughout the book’s length. 300 pages but reads even longer with the attention to detail written into the story. Kohanek’s fantasy worlds have become one of my favorite fantasy reads. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Travis Baldree . Owning both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to follow along while being read to. I look forward to reading more in this series. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A Disparate Party Comes Together

I received a review copy and liked the book.

I enjoyed the humor the book contains. One thing I did not like was that it relied on coincidences too much. However, I appreciated how it flashes to backstories for some of the main characters. It is interesting how characters from different backgrounds become drawn into the group. Being the first book in the series, it sets up what is to come later. I’m sure this book will serve as a springboard for some amazing adventures.

Magical and Funny

The story was compellingly with interesting characters and decent world building. A good mix of storytelling, comedy and action. The only complaint I had was nit picky, some scenes were repeated almost word for word with a different point of view, but after a couple of times I enjoyed that added view.

Great first installment

The time spent building the characters is worthwhile. Like the storyteller in the book, the author builds and builds to these climax and then offers a double twist at the end.

Highly Recommended, Great Story!

Enjoyed the storyline, and the various Main characters. Liked the background stories of each of the main characters before they all join up. The way the main characters interact as they slowly join up as the story progresses is well done.
The Narrator did a wonderful job of making the story come to life.

Excellent character development the plot is strong and moved along fast enough to trap your interest . The very end was a bit anticlimactic the only negative.
