About this listen

In the magical city of Aethervale, where floating crystals illuminate the streets and enchanted vines climb crystal spires, the barriers between magical and mundane worlds are maintained by an ancient order known as the Keepers. For centuries, they have preserved the separation established during an event known as the Sundering, believing it necessary for the stability of all realms. Mira Chen, daughter of Aethervale's most prominent non-magical family, has spent her entire life believing in the power of technology and innovation over magical shortcuts. But on the morning of the winter solstice, she awakens to powers that shouldn't exist, along with memories of an ancient mage who once tried to prevent the Sundering itself.

Marcus Blackthorn, a centuries-old Keeper, recognizes her awakening as part of a prophecy that speaks of three who would rise together when the barriers begin to fail. Meanwhile, in the Undercity beneath Aethervale, shadow-weaver Kira Night discovers evidence that someone is deliberately weakening the barriers between worlds, using forbidden rituals for unknown purposes.

As Mira begins her magical training in the Keeper's Tower, she learns that her newfound powers come with an unexpected price. Each spell she casts reveals more memories from the ancient mage, showing her that the Sundering wasn't just about separating magic from technology – it was about protecting reality from entities that exist between worlds, beings that see our universe as raw material to be reshaped according to their alien aesthetics.

When the first crack appears in the Veil between worlds, Mira, Marcus, and Kira must work together despite their different backgrounds and beliefs. They discover that the original mage had left tools and knowledge throughout both cities, preparing for this moment when the barriers would inevitably fail.
