Publisher's summary
Amber Haines is a woman haunted by God. Like Eve in the Garden, she craved the fruit that she thought would lead her to freedom. But the whispers of temptation led her instead down a devastating path toward isolation, dissatisfaction, and life-altering choices. In her most broken moment, Amber met God waiting for her in the fallout, freely offering her grace and life. This is a story of the God who makes himself known in broken places.
In prose that is at once lyrical and utterly honest, a brave new voice takes listeners on a windswept journey down the path of brokenness to healing, satisfaction, and true intimacy with God. Amber calls listeners to dispense with the pretty bows we use to dress up our stories and instead trust God to take our untidy, unfinished lives and make them free, authentic, and whole. Anyone who struggles with doubt or holds secrets, anyone who feels marginalized or like she is missing something, will find in Amber a sister and an inviting voice back home, into the heart of God.

Story
Hannah Brencher, TED Talk speaker and founder of The World Needs More Love Letters, thought Atlanta was her destination. Yet even after she arrived, she found herself in the same old chase for the next best thing…somewhere else. And it left her in a state of anxiety and deep depression. Our hyper-connected era has led us to believe life should be a highlight reel - where what matters most is perfect beauty, instant success, and ready applause. Yet, as Hannah learned, nothing about faith, relationships, or character is instant. So she took up a new mantra: be where your feet are.

In her critically acclaimed memoir, Whip Smart, Melissa Febos laid bare the intimate world of the professional dominatrix, turning an honest examination of her life into a lyrical study of power, desire, and fulfillment. In her dazzling Abandon Me, Febos captures the intense bonds of love and the need for connection - with family, lovers, and oneself. First, her birth father, who left her with only an inheritance of addiction and Native American blood, its meaning a mystery.

Story
He Speaks in the Silence is the story of Diane Comer's search for the kind of intimacy with God every woman longs for. It is a story of trying to be a good girl, of following the rules, of longing for a satisfaction that eludes us. Disappointed with all Diane had been told was supposed to fulfill her, she begged God in desperation to give her more. And he did. But first he took her through a trial so debilitating it almost destroyed what little faith she had. He let her go deaf.

Story
Rock princess Lacey Sturm wants to share her journey from heartbreak to wholeness with young women. In The Mystery, Sturm helps listeners understand that any loving relationship begins with knowing your own identity in Christ. And yet, so many people have learned to define love through their own dysfunctional family, unhealthy relationships, the romances and wrecked relationships of mainstream pop culture, or, sadly, through pornography. Is it any wonder so many people end up brokenhearted, divorced, abused, abusive, or even suicidal?

Story
Most of us know what it's like to wait for God to change our circumstances. But whether we're waiting for physical healing, an emotional breakthrough, or better relationships, waiting is something we usually try to avoid. Why? Because waiting is painful and hard. The truth is it's also inevitable. In Still Waiting, Ann Swindell explores the depths of why God wants us to wait by chronicling her own compelling story of waiting for healing from an incurable condition.

Must read for the heart
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, because I wanted time to digest different portions and some of the poignant truths she shared and reflect on how her words resonated in my own life.
Any additional comments?
Beautifully written and poignantly honest as she shared her journey of falling away and being drawn back to the Savior and His church. Amber C. Haines narrated her writing so beautifully and authentically, as if we were in the same room.

Amazing! Amber reads her own book and hearing it in her own voice makes it that much more powerful. Amber's beautiful language and weaving together the events of her life into themes means you remember it long after you've heard the last word.

Just …WOW!
I was apprehensive that this would be one of those books that would start out beautiful and end in bitterness. (Quite frankly, I am sick and tired of people who wallow in their pool of self-pity about how “God and the church done them wrong”. Those types of books are hopelessly despairing …this book is NOT one of them!)
“Wild in the Hollow” is both written and narrated masterfully. Amber C. Haines truly has the gift of artistry through word.
A five plus star rating and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You will finish this book with your cup overflowing with hope, encouragement, and joy!

Totally raw and honest.
This book spoke to my heart. Her honesty, walking through her life trials, joys and God- experiences.
Chapters 14-16 un-did me. I’ll never be the same!

Beautifully written and relatable
I appreciate the author's life story, especially as it is only a stone's throw of a difference from mine. Her battles have been hardwon and her fight so very real. I even more appreciated her recanting her vulnerable soul (heart/mind) processes.. perhaps the heart of all of our matters.
I had selected this book because of the reviews. I am in one of my great life battles, the long way around my own mountain, and am especially in need of connection and motivation. I personally do not feel driven to conquer now my own, nor that I am closer-connected to the Lord. It may be just what my struggle will be right now, and no book aside the Word will draw me there. I had just hoped to be inspired to lessen the gap, especially based on my interpretation of the reviews. Beautiful woman, sister, and story. Just could've used this teeny bit of free time to gain some clarity.. and read this book to celebrate once I got there..
