About this listen

The most reckless and fierce of the MacLeod brothers, Quinn is a prisoner of the god inside him, tormented by his inability to save his family from slaughter. His fury governs him, and day by day he loses himself to the darkness in his soul. But Quinn has a profound yearning for a woman's love.

Raised by Druids, the achingly beautiful Marcail is as spellbinding as the ancient magic that surges through her body. To Quinn, she is the most desirable woman he has ever known. But to his enemy Deirdre, she is the perfect bait to lure Quinn into her trap. Once the two lovers are in her wicked grasp, their passion will be put to the ultimate test.

Quinn and Marcail

This is the third book in the Dark Sword series and is a part of the greater Dark World. Donna Grant does create a wonderful world, with many fantastical creatures. So, if you find this book compelling and entertaining, the world does continue and evolve. This series was read as a part of the Audible Escape package.

This is the story of Marcail and Quinn. This couple each has something that Diedre wants, Quinn she wants his heart and his child. As for Marcail she wants a spell that is hidden in her memory and her magic. To get what she wants, Diedre throws each into the pit, where the two find each other and the will to stand up to the evil drough.

So good.

Gonna be honest, I cried twice. Once because I was pissed she didn’t make it out of the mountain the first time, and second during the sunset scene. Epic romance!

Preclude to the Dark Kings series

Not as good as the Dark Kings, which I read first. This seems to be rather slow and had I been reading it, rather than listening, I would have skimmed most of it.

Hmm, I wonder Spoiler in this beware!!

Ok so Diedre was .... SPOILER...was .... well Kirin broke her neck, twisted her head off and “threw it on her body”. By the end of the book it as eluded to that she was still alive and had only had her neck broken.
So I guess I was just paying attention. Lol. These books are good, perhaps a bit cheesy for a la k of words at this minute. But I have enjoyed them so far.

Marcail and Quinn

The only single MacLeod warrior left is Quinn. But he has been kidnapped and held in the "pit" by Deidre when he refused to get her pregnant.
Marcail is a druid whose grandmother implanted the spell to get rid of the primeval gods deep in her mind. Deidre doesn't want to chance that Marcail will some day recall the spell so she throws her in the pit with the warriors.
Quinn jumps in and saves her from several who want to use her for pleasure. Quinn has also formed a group of loyal warriors while down there. The main ones are twins Ian and Duncan as well as Aaron. Broc shows his true colors in this book. Isla also has a major role in this story.
Lots of intriguing information in this book. I am enjoying reading about what began the journey of the warriors.

Has all the bells & whistles of a great love story

This had a warrior with extreme courage & moral code, and showed others that trusted him enough to follow him when there seemed no hope. A Druid also who was very brave & had love to give to change their lives. Great story & narration.

Thrilling, magical fantasy with more to come.

Donna Grant writes the most amazing battles. I devour her books waiting for the explosions, the sword fights, the use of magic and anything else she throws my way. I didn't realize how much more listening to the audiobook would add. The audiobook was epic!!!

Wicked Highlander is the third book in the Dark Sword series. Learning the stories of the MacLeod brothers has been fascinating. Quinn has been held prisoner in a mountain. His brothers are determined to get him out. As I waited for the battle that I was hoping for, I learned about more highlanders that had a God. I am hoping they will get their own stories. Okay, not all of them. Some are just plain evil.

The Battle did not disappoint. I hit rewind and listened to it more than once. It was thrilling. It was exciting. It has me excited to see what happens in book four.
