About this listen

Murder has jarred London's elite. The sons of prominent families have been found at dawn in public places, partially butchered, with strange objects stuffed in their mouths. Once again the local magistrate turns to Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, for help. Moving from the gritty world of London's docks to the drawing rooms of Mayfair, Sebastian confronts his most puzzling - and disturbing - case yet.

Fabulous !

You'll start the series and will never look back. I actually binge on it, hoping Miss Harris will never stops writing. I love her aristocrat and central character Delvin Saint Cyr,and every one around him. Her writing is so fluid you glide through it, and Davina Porter, of course, is top narrator who brings each and every person alive to your ears.
Thank you so very much C.S. Harris !

interesting, with surprise twist

I did enjoy this, but found it a little hard to keep track of the villains. The henchmen's deaths seemed a little gratuitous, though there were plenty in the first books too. But overall. I thought it was a well plotted story and still think it would make a great Masterpiece series. Great character development.

A bit cumbersome but entertaining

This is the first I've listened to in the series. The author provided enough back story to give this installment context. It was interesting hearing about the manners and mores of 19th century England, although I'm not a historian so I cannot attest to historical accuracy. I did get a bit muddled with all the characters at the heart of the plot, all these men with their sons and wives. But the author did a good job of weaving storylines together. Perhaps if i had been reading a printed copy, i could have kept track better of who's who. The ending was satisfying and not melodramatic. Davina Porter is a consummate narrator. I would recommend this novel and I hope to listen to more by this author.

Excellent mystery

Why Mermaids Sing, third book in the Sebastian St. Cyr mysteries, was an excellent historical mystery. I realized I had accidentally skipped book 2, but that didn’t hinder my enjoyment.

Best of the series so far!

Each book has improved upon the last, but they really must be read in order. Davina Porter is exceptional, as usual.

LOVE this series! !!!

I NEVER buy credits, but I did with this series just to hear more. The stories are tight, the unfolding plot book to book is salacious, the characters well "fleshed " out (Oh, I HATE his sister. ) Narration is superb.Greatly enjoying this.

Why?

No one will read my highly crafted reviews of Audible anyway. None have been posted, but maybe my ratings will serve. I'm tired of wasting my time.
