Bored Kids???

This was a really cute book that went from Whitney being bored with her life and her family to an appreciation for what she had in her family.

IMAGINATIVE! :)

Really cute story! Imagine, thinking as we all did at the time, that our family was incredibly boring. But... maybe not! Discover a whole new world, brought to life.

I think this is something that adults and small children alike will enjoy :)

Think your family is boring? Imagine the secrets of their past

Everyone sees their mother and father as mom and dad, grandma and grandpa as old fuddy duds. What children, for the most part, don’t realize until they are older is that these people were young once and may have done very exciting things, traveled to other countries, set records, been in wars, discovered things. This children’s book very cleverly reaches children about how they may have a family who was once exciting as well. Great story and great narration and wonderful message! Not boring

This was the first book I read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. It a fantastical tale and I think my son will get some laughs from it. It’s definitely a kids story. Whitney is bored one day and finds a scrapbook belonging to her “boring” family. That’s where it gets interesting.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Marlene Markos ) and I would listen to another. I think she did well with this story, and her style helped with the excitement and made this listen entertaining.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Wait, an active imagination makes things more boring?

There was a peculiar theme in this book that the more active one’s imagination is, the more boring they will find the real world. The heroine is a little girl who finds everything unbearably boring, supposedly due to an overactive imagination. This premise is so backwards that I scarcely know where to begin. The author proceeds to peel back the veil of normalcy from her seemingly boring family only to find that they are really international spies and supernatural troll hunters and witches and this is what makes them not boring to the little girl who finds everything boring. One’s inability to find the enchantment in the world right under her nose does not bespeak a wealth but a dearth of imagination.

The narrator did a fine job though.

Little Loved It

My littles really enjoyed this book. They have a kids Echo in their room, and loved being able to ask Echo to play this book for bedtime. The storyline was great and easy to follow, as well as had a wonderful message.
