Acerca de esta escucha

Where Sunflowers Stand is a modern espionage thriller in the tradition of John le Carré and Charles Cumming but set against the urgent and rarely explored backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war.

With the psychological depth of Paul Vidich and the geopolitical precision of David McCloskey, the novel follows CIA Chief of Station Alex Curtner as he races to protect a high-ranking Russian asset from exposure while hunting a traitor within Ukraine’s own military leadership.

This is a cerebral, character-driven spy novel grounded in real-world intelligence tradecraft – where the battlefield is as much Kyiv and Langley as it is the human soul.

From the CIA’s covert operation to the frontlines of Ukraine’s war with Russia, this action espionage suspense thriller delivers a heart-pounding ride where trust is an illusion and betrayal is survival.

Ugh! Thought I'd found a bargain when I bought the eBook and was then able to add on the audio for a few dollars. Turns out I'm just blind and it was so cheap because it doesn't have real narrator—this is virtual voice.

My own fault for not noticing, obviously. As people regularly insist virtual voice is great, I thought, maybe it'd improved since my last attempt. However, it has not. Absolutely awful.

I can't say too much about the story, other than the author seems to favor 'telling' over 'showing', making for a dull experience. The audio production is poor. 0 stars.

Beware: virtual voice
